THOUSANDS OF DEVOTEES WITNESS ‘SHRI KAVERI THIRTHODBHAVA’

 

Thousands of devotees witnessed Shri “Cauvery Thirthodbhava exactly at the forecasted time, 1.36 P.M. today at Thalacauvery, the birth place of Cauvery. Labour and Haj and Kodagu incharge minister Mr. Thanveer Sait,  M.L.As Mr. K.G.Bopaiah and Mr. Basavaraju, M.L.C Mr. Arun Machaiah, Rajyasabha member Smt.Prema Cariappa, Zilla Panchayath president Smt. Chitra Ramesh, Z.P. Executive officer  Boodihal, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Shrikanth Valagad and others witnessed the event. Mr. Tanveer sait himself poured ‘Kumkumam’ into the holy “Kundige” a small pond where Cauvery emerges.

 

 When the movement started in the pond, Cauvery springing up, the Archaks started lifting and sprinkling the water on the devotees. Infact , Minister Tanveer sait was seen with wet cloths and ‘Kukmkumam’ all over at the peak moment..

The devotees uttered “Cauveri Matha Bhajans”, “Govindam”,and ignoring the tight police security many devotees jumped into the bathing tank emotionally chanting Cauvery japam. “Archaks” continuously performed “Kumkumarchanam” and other poojas before Thirthodhava. More than 30 special KSRTC buses carried the devotees from Bhagamandala and other places to Thalacauvery continuosly. Thousands of devotees from Kodagu, Mandya, Kerala, Dakshina kannda and Tamilnadu took the holy dip. The Food supply was done from the morning hours till evening by Kodagu Ekikarana ranga orgonisation, Mandya Gowda Association, Tamilnatdu Alagappa Chettiyars trust at Thalcauvery and Virajpet Kodava Samaj and Hindu Jagarana vedike orgonisations at Bhagamadnala.

 

Speaking to this correspondent at Thalacuvery Mr. Tanveer Sait, minister disclosed:-the renovation of Thalacauvery and Bhagamandala piligrim centre has already begun. The stone carving is done at Bhagamandala  at  a project cost of Rs.  60 lakhs.The temples at Thalacauvery will be reconstructed without using the cement he said. Total Rs. 10.50 crores project is to be cleared from the finance secretariat’s office and  the other infrastructural works will be officially started from November onwards he explained. The Govt. is thinking of formation of two ways from Bhagamandala to Thalacauvery to avoid congestion of traffic he added. When asked about the central Govt’s role in the overall development of  Cauvery’s birth place Smt. Prema cariappa, the M.P. said she will positively present before the central Govt. if such help is needed to the State for the development of Cauvery basin areas. Various cultural programmes and devotional music concert were arranged at Thalacauvery.

 

Devotees fighting for holy bath and thirtham
