DASARA FESTIVITIES KICKED OFF;

 

The district in charge minister Mr.Tanvir Sait yesterday inaugurated the cultural programme of Dasara in a colourful function.

 

Addressing the gathering he called upon the people to spread the message of unity in diversity through the celebration of Dasara festival. Stating that the government has released rupees 10.5 lakh for the celebration, he invited doners to contribute more to make it an annual festival conducted to bind the bonds.

 

MLA Mr.K.G.Bopaiah addressed the gathering and assured the minister to lend his co operation in developmental works. He called upon the people to support the cultural troups and artists.

 

ZP chairperson Mrs.Chitra Ramesh and Satish Pai spoke on the occasion. Cultural programme chairman G.Chidvilas compered the programme.

 

The minister was honoured with the traditional Peta and Peeche katthi.

 

 

UNHEALTHY COMPETITION IN JOURNALISM;

 

Editor of Samyukta Karnataka, Mr.Jayasheela Rao regretted that unhealthy price war is spoiling the field of Kannada journalism. Addressing the Annual celebration of Patrika Bhavan Trust here yesterday, he opined that the present scenarion of competition to kill the weaker onesw is unconstitutional and unacceptable. He cautioned the journalists not to support such activities.

 

Addressing the scribes, Harakere Jairam of Hindu newspaper opined that entry of foreign media should not be encouraged.

 

MP Mr.Sadananda Gowda , inaugurating the function said that the industrialization of newspapers going beyond the limit should be curtailed. KUWJ secretary Mr.Venktesh , Mr.T.P.Ramesh addressed the gathering. Jurnos president Shashidar, press club president Jeevan Chinnappa were present on the dais.

 

 

SPECIAL BUSSES FOR TALACAUVERY;

 

Special busses are plying from all the three taluks of Kodagu from today to carry pilgrims to Talacauvery on the occasion of  Teertodbhav tomorrow.

 

Special busses will also ply from important cities of the state, according to the authorities.

 

Busses to take tourists to important spots of the district are also organized.
