GOVT. RELEASES RS. 10 LAKH FOR MADIKERI DASARA

 

The state Govt. has released Rs. 10 lakhs for the Historical Madikeri Dasara. Mr. Tanveer Sait, the Kodagu district incharge minister had assured and kept the promise.Rs. 4 lakh from other sources like sponsorships by the Mysore Soaps and Detergents, KS.R.TC are expected. The Dasara will be celebrated in a grand manner disclosed Mr. Satish Pai, the working president of the Madikeri Dasra Committee in a press conference here today.

 

He told the town hall and the whole town will be decorated in a grand manner. Quotations are called for the light decorations. The traditional Dasara starts from 15th with the inauguration of “Karaga Mahotsava”. The 4 Karagas daily march in the twon with pojas for 9 days Mr. Satish explained.

 

The daily cultural programmes starts from 15th .Out of the 400 applications received 38 programmes are accepted and in addition 150 small programmes will be performed said Mr. G.Chidvilas, the president of the Cultral committee.To remember the Great kannada poet Kuvempu, a special drama writen by Kuvempu will be performed by the Kadamba team, Mysore Mr. Chidvilas explained.

 

In the Poets meet more than 50 poets are participating. On the 16th,  the poet meet will be conducted said Mr. Shridhar Hoovalli, the Sub Committee president. The Dasara sports are completed including the Cycle race and tug of war events- told Mr. Chummi Devaiah, the sub committee president. For repairing the town roads before Dasara celebrations Rs. 10 lakshs has been released and the works are entrusted to P.W.D and the land Army said Mr. Rangasswamy the City Municipal Council Commissioner.The other office bearers M.P.Muthappa, K.M.Ganesh,Subramanyam,B.A..Ramaiah ,Thahira Hafiz and Thahir were present.

ENVIORNMENTALIST CREATE JAMMA PROBLEM: K.G.BOPAIAH

 

Some environmentalists have created the Jamma Bane land complications in Kodagu alleged Mr. K.G.Bopaiah, the Madikeri M.L.A. He was speaking during a felicitation to him by the Kodagu Gowda Education association. Although the high court had given clear judgment of the ownership rights to the Jamma land holders, the forest department is unnecessary interfering and sending report to the Govt. mentioning the Jamma Bane lands as the Forest lands-Bopaiah   regretted. If such misinterpretations continues he will organise the land holders and agitate against the loopholes- he added. Regarding the problems of coffee growers he said he himself and the M.P.Mr. Sadananda Gowda could not achieve positive things irrespective of prompt attempts. Mr. B.A Jeevijaya, M.L.A , Somwarpet was also felicitated. Speaking on the occasion he said the Jamma land problems are created by some vested interest. The problem will be solved soon-he opined. Mr. Paikera Ananthram, the president of the Gowda Samaj also spoken. .B.R.Joyappa  presided over the function.
