MISUSE OF PROVIDENT FUND –MORE THAN RS. 8 LAKH

The Transport company which was entrusted with permission to carry the transport and distribution work of Food and Civil supplies is now facing charges of completely misusing the provident fund belong to its workers. The Food corporation of India had permitted the Venkatalakshmi transport company, Mysore during 1998 to take up the transport and distribution of Food and civil supplies materials to all the fair price shops in the district. The Company had given pay slips to 26 workers o get the provident fund from the Mysore provident fund office. Each worker has to get Rs. 33,264 per year since 1998 till this day. The total payment due is Rs. 8,64,000. When the workers contacted the provident fund office at Mysore they were shocked to hear a single pai was not being remitted by the company towards the provident fund. The whole amount is misused by the concerned officials in the company. The workers have now complained to the Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu Mr. Shrikanth Valagad and also the authorities of Food Corporation of India to get the justice and to take stringent action against the concerned persons. Further the Venkatalakshmi transport company has got permission to load all the food materials at the specific mentioned go down at Kudige near Kushalnagar. The company is not at all following the restrictions . They are downloading 50% of materials at Kudige godown and the other materials are directly supplied to the cooperative societies in Kodagu breaking the rules. The “Kooligagi Kalu Yojane “ rice materials are also in the transit. But, no perfect records are maintained and the local B.J.P leader at Kudige Mr. Bogappa has alleged the misuse of materials by the company by not following the guidelines given by the Food Corporation of India. The lady workers also complain the less payment of salaries to them. Although the company should pay Rs.83 as daily wages the company is paying only Rs. 41 per day. The workers have openly stated to agitate against the company if they don’t get positive response.
