MINOR MAID SERVANT TORTURED TO DEATH;
Sarita, 16, working in a planters house at Somwarpet died in
a hospital yesterday. According to police, her employer Mrs.Kamalamma, wife of
Baggana Kushalappa used to torture her regularly over trivial matters. The girl was admitted to hospital on Tuesday with burn
injuries and wounds all over the body. She was being beaten with fire wood
causing wounds all over. The dalith committee members who thronged the hospital and
police station demanded action against the employers. Superintendent of police Mr.Devajyothi Ray visited Somwarpet
and saw the corpse. Employer Kamala was arrested by the police. Cases of
atrocity and murder are registered against her.
The deceased BUSSES TO BE NAMED ‘TALACAUVERY’
The Director of Vigilance
and security, Karanataka Road Transport, Mr.Bhaskar Rao told this
correspondent that all busses touching Madikeri would be named as ‘Talacauvery’
from October 17th. He said that this was done in line of busses going to
Tirupathi named as ‘Venkatadri and busses to Shimoga named as ‘Sahyadri”. Mr.Rao said that the state busses are today fit to compete
with any other private services or even doing better. Meanwhile, he paid a surprise visit to the KSRTC bustand
here and verified cleanliness and facilities. He noticed that a bus had
starting trouble. Another had no lights and one more without a first aid box.
He instructed the depot manager to look into these and adviced the staff to
keep the vehicles fit. He also instructed the manager to send a proposal for
parking facility inside the premises and cover the drainage. He also visited Somwarpet and listened to the grievances by
the public. |
