‘KODAGUPEX 2004’ INAUGURATED;

 

Postmater General Mr.M.P.Rajan today released a special postal cover and handed it over to Air Marshal (Retd.) K.C.Cariappa.

 

The special cover was released on the occasion of inauguration of the  first of its kind, a district level postal exhibition organized here.

 

Addressing the gathering Director of Postal services, Mr.Rajalingam told that the department since its inception, 150 years ago has been depicting the evolutionary changes in the society whether it is social, political, environmental or Flora and Fauna by bringing out stamps.

 

Collection of stamps is a good hobby which broadens the vision and knowledge of a philetele, he said.

 

Mr.K.C.Cariappa, CEO Mr.Budihal, Mr.M.P.Rajan spoke on the occasion. Superintendent of post offices, Kodagu, Mrs.Rajeshwari Ramachandran welcomed the gathering.

 

Over twelve thousand stamps were exhibited in the hall, which will be kept for three days. The attraction of the exhibition is the first stamp in the world – Penny Black- 1840.

 

 

GANDHIJI, CENTURIES WONDER;

 

A mould of love, compassion, devotion and non violence, Mahatma Gandhi  was a wonder of twentieth century, described the assistant commissioner of  Commercial taxes, Kodagu, Mr.Banegowda.

 

He was addressing a gathering after garlanding the portrait of Mahatma in the office premises. The premises were cleaned through ‘Shramadan”.

 

Presiding over the meeting Journalist Mr.G.Chidvilas said that Gandhiji united people through Shramadan and Ahimsa movement. Guest Mr.B.G.Ananth Shayana said that Gandhi fulfilled his mission through his faith towards God and self ability. Officer Mr.Jairam was present. Mr.Nagappa compered.

 

The school children sang Sarvadharma Samanvaya Geeta.
