KASARAVALLI CONTINUES SHOOTING;

Shooting of the film, “Achala” continues at Madikeri unobstructedly.

The film shooting directed by Mr.Girish Kasaravalli was blocked by protestors on 17th, claiming that the sanctity of Gadduge was distorted by the producers by converting it into a prayer house.

Film producer and actress Thara told this correspondent that she is hurt by the behavior of the protestors. She said that her movie in no way hurts the sentiments of the people or community. This is the first such encounter I faced, let this be the first and the last, she opined.

Achala is a story of a rebel Muslim mother.

CROCODILE CAPTURED;

A six and a half feet long Crocodile was captured by villagers and handed over to forest department yesterday at Somwarpet taluk.

The crocodile was spotted in a private lake at Negalli village recently. People were bewildered as it started swallowing fishes in the lake and sprwl itself on the bank. Attempts to capture it failed and a complaint was lodged with the forest department.

As it was spotted on the banks yesterday, words were sent to forest department. Since nobody came, the villagers gathered and pumped the water out of the lake. The Crocodile, which tried to rush out, was captured by heroic efforts of the villagers. It was captured with gunnysack and nylon rope.

Villagers lost temper as the forest guards arrived after everything was over. Police who rushed to the spot pacified the otherwise hot situation.

The forest department released the crocodile into Harangi reservoir.


ADLR OFFICE GHERAOED;

The Kaveri Sene members’ yesterday gheraoed the ADLR office at Virajpet and demanded speedy work.

The members led by their president Mr.Ravi Chengappa questioned the Deputy Director Mr.Sheshadri, who happened to visit the office. They stated that the staffs are sitting over three thousand files, ignoring the interest of people. They complained that common people and ex servicemen are suffering due to the lathergic attitude by the department. They also alleged that the staff members are demanding bribe to provide records. Mr.Sheshadri and Tahasildar Nanaiah assured to look into drawbacks.
