MLAs’ ARRESTED OVER ‘FUEL PROTEST’; MLAs’ Mr.K.G.Bopaiah and
Mr.H.D.Basavaraju were arrested along with their supporters as they tried to
picket Deputy Commissioners’ office. The picketing was done by the
BJP, which was protesting sharp hike in fuel. The protestors were enraged, as
the Deputy Commissioner did not come down from his office to meet them at the
Fort premises. They were later arrested as
they attempted to picket his office. The MLAs, addressing the meeting lambasted the state and central governments and opined that they are great failures. A memorandum was submitted to DC. SCRIBE ARRESTED; Milton, a local journalist at
Napoklu and four others were arrested by Napoklu police yesterday on charges of
threatening the life of an auto rickshaw driver. Police acted on the complaint lodged by one Rajesh, who said that his life was threatened by the accused. RAIN THREATENS CROPS; The agriculture experts in
Kodagu fear that the untimely rainfall might hamper different crops in the
district. The unseasonal rainfall in the district is causing serious concern among the agriculturists. The experts opine that the rainfall would damage coffee, paddy and pepper. LABOURER MURDERED; A drunken brawl at an estate
ended in a murder near Gonicoppal, the day before yesterday. Police stated that his
colleagues Kala and Chimma at Arvatoklu beat Choma, 26 to death on the night of
7th. The accused under the influence of alcohol resorted to fight with each
others. The deceased Choma only went to stop the fighting. But the enraged duo
turned towards Choma and beat him to death with a billhook. Acused Chimma is absconding, while Kala is arrested. |
