CNC SITS ON DHARNA ;

 

The General Secretary of Codava National Conference,Mr.N.U.Nachappa  yesterday sat on a Dharna on the day of Rajyotsava.

 

Mr.Nachappa ridiculed celebration of Rajyotsava and said that right of Kodavas was snatched away to form Akand Karnataka. He demanded that Kodagu be granted earstwhile status of C State. He also said that protest would be launched each year on Rajyotsava day.

 

 

AMMATHI SPORTS CLUB LIFTS HOCKEY LEAGUE TROPHY;

 

In a closely fought hockey battle, Ammathi sports club team lifted the prestigious Hockey League tournament trophy by winning 5-3 against Shivaji Youth club team.

 

The seven-day hockey tournament conducted by Kodagu Hockey Association and Blue Star hockey Club ended yesterday at Somwarpet. Hundreds of people gathered to witness the finals from all over the district.

 

MLA Mr.B.A.Jivijaya distributed the prizes.

Your article on the 'Cauvery Festival at New York' published on October 20, 04 was forwarded to me by Sajni Poovaiah.

While I only forwarded the pictures of the function as requested by Sajni, the actual credits should be given to Dr. Neravanda Medappa and Muthu Medappa of Staten Island who yearly organize this function together with Maletira Thimmaiah Esq. and Chondu Thimmaiah also of Staten Island, NY. These two families also have been the hosts for the students of COPS for the second year. They are also instrumental in celebrating other Kodava functions and bringing the Kodava families together.

It was never Sajni's or my intention to take credit. Credit should definitely go to the above mentioned families as they always take time out of their busy schedule to keep the community together. I request that this information/correction be published for fellow readers of Shakthi.
