RAIN ON THE INCREASE

 

Rain fall in Kodagu is on the increase and water level of streams and rivers are increasing.

 

A house at Mangaladevi Nagar collapsed yesterday due to rain fall, causing loss to a poor family. Padma, a daily wager and her ailing mother and children escaped unhurt. The local residents urged the district administration to release compensation.

 

Meanwhile, a portion of an Ain house at Napoklu  also collapsed.

 

The district administration is holding a meeting today to discuss whether holiday should be declared for schools and colleges.

 

 

EVE TEASING LEADS TO STABBING;

 

Four students of first grade college, Kushalnagar were stabbed over brawl which broke after eve teasing at Kushalnagar.

 

Anup, who was accused of teasing eves, was questioned by the injured. Annoyed by interference, Anup with three others waylaid the four students, Bipin,Anil, Shivkumar and Sidda and stabbed them. The injured were immediately shifted to the Kushalnagar hospital, where they are recovering now.

 

Police yesterday arrested the accused and remanded them to judicial custody.

 

 

LOG ON TO www.kodagu.nic.in;

 

Yes. If you have any grievance or an application to be submitted either to the Deputy Commissioner or to the Chief Secretary of Zilla Panchayath, all you have to do is log on to www.kodagu.nic.in and save time and humiliation of waiting in the queue.

 

The National Informatics Centre has created the above web site which provides detailed information about Kodagu, its departments and officials, their telephone numbers etc. The viewer can type his grievances in the same site where a provision is created. The applicant can also view the status of his application after a few days time. There is total transparency in the system, says Mr.Srinivas Murthy, officer incharge of NIC in Kodagu.

 

He also said that the applicants can also watch the status of Passport applications they submit to the Superintendent of Police, in the same net. Records and account maintenance in the Zilla Panchayath  is computerised. Revenue departments in the three taluks are also computerised by NIC. Mr.Srinivas Murthy disclosed that those departments which are yet to be computerised can maintain their records in computors at NIC centre.

 

The Deputy Commissioner Mr.Srikanth Valgadh told this correspondent that the statistics of Guns and license holders in the district are also computorised.
