PROTEST AGAINST TWO DIGIT LOTTERY;

A protest rally against the sale of two digit lottery is organized at Siddapur on 26th.

The organizers, different organizations representing ladies stated that the elected representatives, MLC Mr.Arun Machaiah, MLAs Mr.K.G.Bopaiah, Mr.H.D.Basavaraju would address the rally.

Convener Mrs.Mani said that a procession would be taken out from Nellihudikeri before the meet. Chamber of commerce and other organizations and political parties have supported the rally, she said.

KODAVA ACADEMY FOR NAMESAKE:

The brainchild of the then Chief Minister Mr.M.Veerappa Moily, Kodava Academy remains only to feed the staff, today.

A peep into the affairs of the academy reveals that the rupees 8.5 lakh being released by the government as grant is hardly available for activities after deducting salary and maintenance. Over six lakh is required for the salary and maintenance.

Meanwhile, the records in the Academy state that two staff members who are drawing salary are working in Kannada and Culture department, Bangalore!

People of Kodagu are urging the government to take sincere interest in developing the culture of Kodagu by supporting the Academy with more funds and stop misusing the fund by drawing salary from the academy to pay employees serving elsewhere.
