POLICE BUST SIX CRORE-GANJA RACKET;

In a day and night operation yesterday, Kodagu police busted a six crore Ganja haul in a Wild Life Sanctuary at Kodagu – Kerala border.

Police destroyed Ganja plants worth around six crores grown in five acres of land on top of a hill and arrested four persons dwelling in the area. All the four accused persons belong to Kerala.

Penetrating deep into the pathless hill with much difficulty, police traced the Ganja plants in five acres. However, they also discovered the stems of the plants in about ten acres. According to police, the smugglers already used those plants.

The district Crime branch took the four illegal occupants of the land by surprise at wee hours and arrested them. They also seized a gun. Later police Superintendent Mr.Devjyothi Ray, DySP Mr.Yellappa and others rushed to the spot. One has to walk around 22 kilometers, both the way to reach the spot! The spot is situated at a height of 1,500 meters above sea level at Sollekolli near Makutta border.

PYTHON AS A GUEST!

A person by name Balu captured a Python instilling fear among estate workers around Hudikeri .

The residents around Nelli Hudikeri and Siddapur told that the Python was being sighted in different estates since months, sending waves of fear among the workers who work under trees and amidst bushes.

Balu from Siddapur took courage and went looking for Python and succeeded in capturing it few days ago with much difficulty. Presently, the twelve feet snake, weighing ten kilo is lying in a cage in his house as a rare guest. People are thronging to his house to get a glimpse of it.


ELECTED REPS LAMBAST GOVERNMENT;

The elected representatives of Kodagu lambasted the government for canceling the Special Package once announced by Governor himself in his speech.

Participating in a face-to-face meet with the press at Patrika Bhavan here yesterday, they urged the government to re implement the schemes under package programme. They termed canceling the package is a shame caused to the Governor by the government.

MLC Mr.Arun Machaiah said that Package scheme was a bogus one to fool people. MLA Mr.H.D.Basavaraju considered it as a failure on part of the government. MLA Mr.K.G.Bopaiah stated that he would fight to get the package. MLA Mr.B.A.Jivijaya from the ruling party said it is unfortunate. They said that the district in charge minister Mr.Tanvir Sait should not have allowed it to be cancelled.

All the representatives lambasted the officials for their non co-operation and lethargy and urged the transfer of Deputy Commissioner and SP.
