THIS ANGANAVADI EXISTS ON RECORD, BUT BENEFITS GO FULL HOG!

An Anganavadi center in Virajpet Taluk was closed two years ago. So what? But the salary to the staff, rice meant for the center and other benefits are promptly being reaped by the staff that is holidaying with no practical work. So to say, the government fund is being misappropriated in open.

This Anganavadi center exists at Nangala village at Virajpet in the Harijan colony. Its not functioning since 2.5 years due to lack of students. But the teacher and the staff did only close the door, but not the books.

The villagers complain that the teacher is misusing the grocery worth rupees 2.5 thousand she gets each month for the children and salary is being drawn probably with officials hand in glove. Local Panchayath member Mr.Ganesh said that he will lodge a complaint with the police regarding the misappropriation and termed it as ‘Day light robbery”. The villagers stated that the concerned officials know that the Anganavadi is closed long back. Yet they are supplying benefits anfd releasing salary.

The villagers have warned of protest if the district officials fail to initiate action against the persons involved in this scandal.

KANNADA BHAVAN URGED;

President of the district Kannada Sahitya Parishath, Mr.T.P.Ramesh told that a Kannada Bhavan is necessary for the district and he would go ahead with the plan to build one.

Taking charge of the president from the erstwhile president Mr.Rajshekar, Mr.Ramesh said that the dream of having a Kannada Bhavan in the district was not realized since the time of late Mr.R.Gundu Rao. He said that number of membership would be increased to 1,500 and District level Sahitya Sammelans would be held in all the three taluks in next three years.

DALITHS CALLED TO JOIN MAINSTREAM;

Genearal secretary of the state Bahujan Samaj Mr.B.J.Perera called upon the Daliths to join the mainstream by gathering up the veiled self respect.

Addressing the Dr.Ambedkar Parinirvana function here yesterday, he stated that it is the duty of every Dalith to see that the light lit by Dr.Ambedkar remains so permanently.

Leader of the BSP Mr.Sridhar Kaliveer said that BSP has taken birth to realize the dreams of Dr.Ambedkar and all other parties have failed to fulfill the dream.

Efforts are to build the party in Karnataka, he said. Talented students were honored on the occasion.

NANAIH STRESSES ON KODAVA CO OP SOCIETY;

Former minister Mr.M.C.Nanaiah called upon the Kodavas to form a co operative society of their own.

Addressing the Puttari Oororme function here yesterday, Mr.Nanaiah said thasta similar society formed by Bangalore Kodava Samaj is doing well. He urged the Kodava Samaj here to take initiative and start the society. He lambasted the CNC, without naming it and alleged that it is misleading the community about its culture and painting panicky pictures unnecessarily.

Vice president Mr.Suresh Chengappa and others spoke on the occasion. Cultural programmes were later held at Manns compound.
