SMOKE OF SUSPECION SMOGS DEATH OF THE SOLDIER;

The family of deceased soldier Dinesh Chengappa at Jammu area recently , express suspicion over the cause of his death as the army sources did not specify the cause of his death.

The family members spoke to this correspondent during the cremation of the soldier’s body yesterday at Arameri.

His father Mr.Devaiah stated that the telegram first received from the Army head qurters from Srinagar just read that Dinesh Chengappa has committed suicide. While it read the date of suicide as 28th of November, the personnel accompanying his body termed it as 29th. The personnel also stated that they do not know the cause of death.

Chengappas brother Mr.Umesh said that his brother had no cause to commit suicide. The family was pleading helplessness about the loss and unanswered question.

The body was cremated yesterday with full police honor.

CALL TO REVIVE MANDARIN;

Experts in a seminar held at Siddapur called to revive Mandarin, fearing extinction.

The seminar organized by the Chettalli Research Station and Coorg Foundation was attended by scientists and experts.

Addressing the gathering, former vice president of the Coffee Board, Mr.Bose Mandanna stated that rejuvenation of Mandarin will help the planters who depend only upon Coffee and Pepper for their livelihood. Inaugurating the seminar, director of the Coorg Foundation, Mr.N.Chengappa said that the planters should avail technical support and advice from the Chettalli research station.

The officer from the Research Station, Mr.K.Suresh disclosed that the government has ear marked a project of rupees fifty lakhs for the rejuvination of Mandarin and about fifteen lakhs of rupees was already spent on it. He nalso said that the selected growers are given free Tricoderma and drip irrigation facility would be provided with a subsidy of fifty percent.

A visit to the estate of Mr.B.S.Madaiah was organized on the occasion. Mr.Madaiah is growing bumper crop of orange in a land of 6.5 acres.
