HARTAL IN ZILLA PANCHAYATH MEET;

Hell broke loose in the Zilla Panchayath meeting yesterday as the Deputy Secretary exhibited Caste card and threatened the members with atrocity case as they started showering misappropriation charges against him.

The members alleged that the DS has shifted a Dalith hostel at Kushalnagar violating rules and regulations. Even the Chief Executive Officer exhibited innocence stating that the concerned files came only after the shifting was done.

The members demanded immediate suspension and action against the DS. The CEO said that the power does not lie with him to initiate action and it has to be sent to government. This enraged the members who swarmed into the well and started shouting. The DS who lost temper repeated that he need not give any explanation and challenged the members to initiate action and face the consequences. The president Mrs.Chitra Ramesh who was short of words and struggling to calm the situation through immature remarks came under heavy attack from the members, including her own Congress members. She had to to suspend the meeting for ten minuites. A closed door meeting inside her cabin with CEO, D.S and Vice president of the ZP proved futile as the DS was adamant.

The meeting resumed after ten minuites again witnessed pandemonium. The DS left the meeting hall and went to his chamber. The members urged every proceeding should be registered in the book. However, the meeting ended with little progress about the shifted hostel, initiating action against the DS.

Only handful members remained in chair after the second half.
