MAC BURNEY & THE FOUR JACKS - by Al Kelly "Tired Of Your Sexy Ways" is one heck of a great record that surely got lost in the piles. I've actually been researching this song for about a month and came up with several spellings of Mac including McBurney but it was Mac Burney doing the lead on this record and another in '56 on the Hollywood label. The Four Jacks (not to be confused with the Jacks) were from Encino, CA. and started recording for the mystery Allen label in '49 I found info this Allen label was from VA. so that adds to the confusion. They even had a record out on the Philly's Gotham label before signing with Johnny Otis Band as singers in '52. Johnny backed the groups in most of their recordings too. The group had several singles on the Federal label in '52. They then became the ultimate backup group for singers like Mac, Lil Greenwood, Little Willie Littlefield, Shirley Haven, Cora Williams and Ben Zeppa. The group consisted of George Comfort, Bowling Mansfield, Buell Thomas (had a single on the Dootone label) and Ellison White. If anyone has any info on this group or even Mac, it would be appreciated. I just fell in love with this record. This tune could be an answer to Hank Ballard's "Sexy Ways" from '54
