Born Lawrencine Collins, 7 May 1942, Tahlequah, Oklahoma

One half of the legendary Collins Kids, Lorrie is the singer who looks hot
and sings hotter. She's the one who cradles her guitar lovingly while her
brother Larry rips his double-headed Mosrite apart with blistering licks.
Their parents sensed their talents at an early age and moved the family home
to Los Angeles where they had more chance of getting spotted. Within a
couple of years they'd landed a regular spot on the influential Town Hall
Party TV show, which was hosted by Tex Ritter. Videos of some of their
appearances show Lorrie to be a great combination of sexy and cute, while
Larry comes over as a half-crazed, hyperactive wizard. Considering the
exposure they got courtesy of Town Hall, their records for Columbia somehow
failed to hit, despite having being a high quality mix of novelty and flat
out rock 'n' roll. Lorrie was dating Ricky Nelson but left him broken
hearted when she eloped with Johnny Cash's manager Stew Carnell. The
Collins Kids act was left like Ricky's heart - in tatters. Larry released
some tasty instrumentals and concentrated on his songwriting, penning two
Grammy nominated numbers in Delta Dawn and You're The Reason God Made
Oklahoma. Lorrie kept pretty much out of show-business except for some duet
work with Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson. The last decade has seen the
Kids return to the live circuit with triumphant shows both sides of the
Atlantic.
