THE LADDERS - by Al Kelly The Ladders, who lived on 115th St. in Manhattan lived in the same apartment building as the Bopchords. The group was led by Johnny Jackson and his brother Douglas was the bass singer. They were managed by Les Cooper, who was a member of the Empires and Whirlers plus nvolved in writing, producing and even swept the floor. Les had a big hit with "Wiggle Wobble" in '63. Les brought the group to meet Danny Robinson, who owned the Holiday and Vest labels. Danny signed them and the group had both of their releases with Danny. By the way the second release was on Vest, named after Danny's wife Vesta. There were some unreleased songs that later came out on a couple albums.
