He worked as a solo artist, a backing musician and as an instrumental duo with steel guitar legend Speedy West. His session work enlivened many a Californian song, none more so than on Tennessee Ernie Ford's The Shot Gun Boogie which saw Bryant and drummer Roy Harte in sparkling form. Bryant co-wrote Tailormade Woman for Ford's next session and although he was unavailable to play on the session, he did add his talents to further productions like Blackberry Boogie, Catfish Boogie and Hey Mr Cottonpicker. His work with Merrill E. Moore and Ella Mae Morse bought him to the attention of many aspiring musicians and as such he became one of the most influential guitarists of the period.
