THE FIVE WINGS - by Al Kelly The Five Wings were from NYC and was led by none other than Jackie Rue or LaRue, who later led another group called Jackie & the Starlites. Jackie was about 15 when he recorded with this group. This was the second of the King releases . After no sucess with both records, King dropped them and Jackie and two others left the group. Billy Nelson was now the leader of the group and there he did the lead on their last release on Savoy in '56 with Richard Blandon, who was just released from the Service joining the group and doing a lead on the flip side of the Savoy release. Two of the members left with Blandon to form the Dubs. This record later was released in '59 as the Checkers on King. No relation to the '51-'55 King Checkers.
