THE FIVE DEBONAIRES - by Al Kelly I'll bet after listening to "Darlin'" and seeing it was on the NYC based Herald label, you'd say the group was from NYC, well you'd be wrong!!! They were from Atlanta, GA. The group led by Arthur Simon and this is the only record they ever released. Many confuse this group with the Gee Record group, which came around the same time period but that group was led by Robert Adino and most of the Long Island bred group were Italians while the Simon group were black. Milt Lowery, who produced and wrote the music for this record had a past dealing with Al Silver, owner of Herald and sold him this master. For some reason, Silver re-released this record in November of '57 as the Debonaires which added to the confusion.
