EDDIE DELMAR - by Al Kelly Eddie Delmar was really Bobby Bovino, who recorded with three buddies from Brooklyn as the Bob Knight Four. Yep, there was no Bob Knight and some record exec came up with the name. The Bob Knight Four with Bobby Bovino on lead had their first recording session in '56 for the Rifkin Bros, who owned the Dome label but the sides were never released. They next recorded years later in '61 with Tony Sepe's Laurel label, where they re-recorded an earlier release on the Laurel label by the Corvets called "So Long" which their version is called " Good Goodbye" and Tony Sepe leased the record after some strong reaction to the Taurus label where they changed the title back to "So So Long Goodbye". Many think the Taurus version was the original label but the Laurel came first. After another release on Taurus, they moved to the Josie & Jubilee combine. The group never made a bad record and they're more popular today than back in the 60's. They have a CD out with all of their recordings including the Eddie Delmar releases. The last record under BK Four was on the Goal label and only Bobby and another member were actually singing on it. As Eddie Delmar, he had an earlier release on theMadison label in '61. This record could be an unreleased '61 cut or a new song for the Jerry Ross' Vegas label. The group disbanded due to lack of work and it was a mutual agreement too.
