They had their local TV show and appeared on the Big "D" Jamboree. The family then moved to Tulsa where Clyde formed The Nitecaps, the group who would back him on his first record for Candlelight, two covers, but revved- up rockabillies, "Hoy Hoy" and "So Young". The latter made number 68 on the Billboard charts in mid-1957, which led to a nation-wide tour. After another single for Candlelight, Clyde moved to the Arizona Bullseye label, with a Little Willie Littlefield penned song, "Baby Shame", coupled with "Nobody's Darling". It didn't make any noise, nor did the two following singles. Surprisingly, "So Young" reached number 99 upon its reissue on Argyle in 1959. In 1961, Clyde teamed up with Bobby Poe, Vernon Sandusky and Big Al Downing and recorded for Len. Clyde moved to Canada where is records have always been more successful than in the USA, but completely disappeared since then. There are rumors that he had also recorded as Clarence Stacy and Clint Stacy. Though he recorded mainly covers, Clyde always did powerful versions that often surpassed the originals. But the main question is: Who is the sexy girl on "So Young"? Recommended listening: "There's Good Rocking Tonite" EAGLE EAR 90112
