THE BUCKEYES - by Al Kelly The Buckeyes were from Steubenville, OH and started singing in '55. They were well received in the area at dances and shows and got a manager in Athena Dallas, who got them a contract with Syd Nathan's King Records in Cincinnati. In spite of King having an outstanding recording studio there, the group was sent to NYC to record their four sides in '56.Howard Allsbrooks was their lead. The record was played by the DJs but nothing happened with the two releases on King's sub label Deluxe. In '59, with several group member changes, the group changed their name to the Stereos with Bruce Robinson now on lead. One of the members wrote "I Really Love You" and a year later they recorded it for the Cub label and it became a big hit for them.
