| Was it hard to tone down the energy of your rapidly-moving songs? Well, the hard part was precisely NOT to tone down the themes, but simply to create and acoustic version of them and modify the arrangements a bit. This is because, well, when you have a group of talented, able, and creative artists and then you add my creativity to the bunch, why not do it? The interesting part of it is that this Unplugged CD was also an opportunity to play around with ideas, explore different sounds and for me to be happy with the results. Which new instruments did you use in this CD? The accordion, for example. The dumbek is that Arabic drum and I already have one at home that I got for my birthday. I had never, ever played it live, though. I had used it for the Ojos Asi track in the studio, but never on stage. It is very nice and i gives off and this type of instrument gives off great energy, for it is very distinct and new for me. Now that you have arranged these unplugged songs, would you ever think of performing them on your next tour? Maybe a song or two, or a new version of a song unplugged... yes I will incorporate them into the concert. But in general, I cannot give away too much because this show will be something new, something I have never done before. It is different then the tours for "Pies Descalzos" or the "MTV Unplugged" tour. Are there any themes that you left out of Unplugged that you would have liked to perform unplugged? Yes, there is a song which I would have liked to have interpreted that night, and though I wasn't able to, I still had the idea of doing it. I am going to sing it now in my tours. It is a folkloric Argentinan song I am not going to say anymore, because you will have to go to the shows to find out. Where do you know that song from? That song which will remain nameless I heard as a young girl in a singing contest at my school. There was a contestant there ( because I wasn't allowed to participate ) who sang it and I was left so moved... so awed. It touched me inside and later, when I found out the story behind the song, I was touched even more. Since then I have had the urge to sing it live one day and now I finally will. Do you plan to interpret more acoustic songs in your next albums? It will always be a blessing for me to be able to repeat this, but every experience is unqiue and who knows if I will have another chance at it, so you have to live each day at a time and that is why I enjoyed that performance, like no other, because I knew it was an experience that I would never have again. So I guess I would have to enjoy it immensely, at that moment. |
