This is the special package for manual installation. If you prefer the standard automated installation, you can download it from the Shaken, not stirred home page.)
Highly recommended if you're comfortable with manual installs, and like the old simplicity of all configuration and temp files kept in the program's folder (so just deleting the program folder completely uninstalls). Copy the enclosed program file Shaker.exe and help file shaker.chm to a subfolder of your user profile folder, e.g. to "C:\Users\<your login name>\Shaker" and run Shaker.exe. For convenience you'll probably want to create a shortcut to Shaker.exe on your Desktop or Start Menu.
Note: The program writes all files to its own folder (except generated playlists where you choose) only if it's in a subfolder your user profile folder. If you put it anywhere else (like the Program Files folder), configuration and temp files would be written to your user profile's AppData folder to avoid causing User Access Control warnings in Windows 7 or Vista.
Windows 2000: If after you install, you try to run Shaken
not
stirred and get an error message about "gdiplus.dll", you will
need to download and install it from
Microsoft. (gdiplus.dll is already installed on later versions of
Windows.)
Note: I have not tested Shaken not stirred on Windows
2000, so
maybe it is totally incompatible. This information about making it work
on W2000
is just my speculation, which may well be futile.
You can always find the latest version at the Shaken, not stirred home page http://www.stanford.edu/~mahmed/shaken/ If the version you downloaded from some other site is out of date, the people at that site will probably appreciate a heads up from you that a newer version is available.
