The Pakistan players fined as a result of the match fixing inquiry have been given a deadline of Saturday to decide whether they will appeal. The Pakistan Cricket Board would like the matter settled before the players leave for the ICC KnockOut at the weekend.
A spokesman said, "If the players don't appeal against the penalties, fines would be deducted from their salaries before the team leaves for Kenya."
Four of the six implicated players are in the one-day squad: Wasim Akram, Saeed Anwar, Waqar Younis and Inzamam-ul-Haq. Wasim has already suggested that he may appeal, saying, "I am in consultation with my legal advisors and if they recommend that I should file an appeal, I would not hesitate."
Although none of the six were found guilty of match fixing, the Qayyum report is critical of their behaviour, and their lack of co-operation with the enquiry.
