Narrative Description of Project:

Run-of-the-river hydropower scheme with an installed capacity of 36 MW, 65 m long weir, surface desander, 3.3 km tunnel, underground surge tank, surface power house and 30 km long 132 kV transmission line.

Description of Actual Services provided by the Staff:

Project Definition Study and Detailed Engineering Stage:

  1. Review and interpretation of the available geological, geotechnical and hydrological data, critical review of the proposed design of the various aspects of the project and recommendations for the detailed design phase (1994).
  2. Landslide stabilization study to investigate the modes of possible mass movement, the possible effects on the project and means of stabilization of existing landslides in the project area (1995).
  3. Transmission line study to define the physical characteristics and environmental impacts of the 132 kV transmission line to be constructed between the Project and the sub-station at Sun Koshi (1995).
  4. Glacial Lake Outburst Flooding (GLOF) investigations in the Bhote Koshi River Basin (1996)
  5. Planning, design and construction supervision of high school building, Youth Club, Pasture Development Center and V.D.C. Buildings at Jhirpu as part of ACRP of the Project (1996 - in progress).
