The Kimera

Relatively little is known of the ancient species known as the Kimera, who once roamed the galaxies as celestial anthropologists. What is known is difficult to pinpoint, but is fascinating nonetheless.

The Kimera's roots lie shrouded in mystery, and little is known of their history. What is known is that they interbred with the ancient Taelon/Jaridians, passing on certain physical traits such as the shakarava and, to the Taelons, an energy-based physiology and certain shapeshifting abilities.

Like the Taelons, the Kimera were beings of light and energy. But unlike their descendents, the Kimera possessed both physical prowess, and the ability to absorb both the appearance and the knowledge of those they encountered. The victim would solidify into a crystalline husk, still alive, until the Kimera took on another form. The victim would then awaken inside the husk, still alive but with no memory of what occurred.

The Kimera were obliterated soon after the joining with the Taelon/Jaridians, which saved their species. A few scattered members escaped, one of whom spent millions of years submerged in the oceans of Earth. The Kimera on Earth, Ha'gel, was able to conceal himself as the Kimera were capable of separating and reconnecting to the Commonality with no ill effects.

The Kimera also had an astounding level of fertility. When the alien Ha'gel was loose on Earth, he attempted to mate with a human female, but killed her in the process. Undaunted, he sought out a second woman, who possessed a CVI. Siobhan Beckett survived the massive joining and gave birth to a hybrid child, Liam, who grew to adult stature in a matter of hours. Liam is the final member of the Kimera species as his father was killed moments after his conception. Liam later encountered a Kimera repository of knowledge; he also retained a certain amount of ancestral knowledge, which he sadly lost when he renounced his Kimera heritage to save the Taelons.

Like the Taelons, the Kimera do not fear death, as they become immensely powerful after their deaths. It also appears that they have knowledge of the future, and act according to the "Big Picture." After death, they have the ability to alter time, transport people and objects, and to channel immense amounts of energy.

Sadly, much of the information about the Kimera will remain forever buried.
