Shaggy's Cheap Radio was started in 1998 on a Pentiun 133 and a 33.6kbs modem. It was never supposed to get past just broadcasting to Shaggy's friends...but thanks to an angry email, it grew up to be what it is today, a full fledged web-station with 24-hour broadcasts in full stereo.
It all started back in June of 1998, when the first Shoucast servers were online and new. Shaggy thought it would be pretty cool to play some of his favorite bands to a couple of online friends...one at a time!
The friends loved the station, BUT unknown at the time...it was being listed on the Shoutcast page. One person, from Canada tuned in and liked the music, but hated the low bandwidth...thus resulting in Shaggy recieving the infamous email stating "you are a cheap bastard! Get a better modem!" That's how the station became "cheap"
Since then, things have changed alot. More songs came, then produced bits, and later on high bandwidth broadcasting 24-hour a day, full-stereo Modern Rock. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoy putting it all together! - Shaggy
