| Pigs Shares available for 2006 We purchase all of our hogs as piglets from a small farms in Connecticut and Massachusetts. They arrive just after mom weans them, at about 40 lbs. By the time they are "ready for market" they weigh 300 lbs! We use a USDA inspected slaughterhouse. We will be doing two sets of 5 pigs in 2006-- Summer and Fall -- 10 shares each. Pork requires a $150 deposit and $150 upon pick up, per half hog. A half hog is around 75+ pounds of meat and generally includes some or all of the following: ham, shoulder, bacon, sausage, ground pork, butt roast, loin roast, ribs, chops, as well as salt pork, hocks and feet. We have had to make a choice to switch to conventional feed for the first two months and organic feed for the last month.
