Brad Wright on War, Anti Americanism, and Spray Paint

Alright folks.  Ive been trying to keep this from becoming a political website for a very long time now because lets face it, politics can be fucking boring. Much to my very own surprise, I have taken a special interest in Global politics since my first trip to Washington D.C. almost 2 years ago, so, its about time that some of this interest has risen in this web page.  Due to the rise in anti American behavior that I have been seeing, I have decided to speak out because I have been pissed off!  Youve all heard the expression, If you dont like America, then you can get out!  Well of course I agree, but people who use that expression (including me) are always portrayed on television as southern Mississippi trailer trash. So, Im going to try and do one better and add a little humor too.

Recently I traveled once again to our capitol and center for patriotism, Washington D.C.  This was my first trip to D.C. since the start of the war in Iraq last March.  I was very happy to see business commencing as usual and new buildings being built.  The city was looking great until I saw a few signs of anti American sentiment.  In other words, DIRTY TREE LOVING HIPPY RHETORIC!!!  I was getting off of the subway and walking to street level when the sun hit my eyes and the hustle and bustle of big city life started to roar around me.  I could do nothing but stand in amazement until I noticed a newspaper box with the word Lies spray painted across it.  I was pissed off immediately!
Not because there was some jerk off running around doing drive by spray paintings or the fact that I didnt really think that it was very good advertising or product placement for the New York Times but because, according to some, the headlines that the war was generating half way around the world were fraudulent. What made me even angrier was that the box seemed to have been sprayed some time ago and nothing had been done to clean it.  In the words of my grandmother, Just take a damn cleaning rag to it you lazy bastards!
Later in the day while walking across our national mall where great monuments like the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument are located, along with great buildings that could pass as Wonders of the World, such as the Capitol Building, I found some more of the left wing political droppings of another anti American.  Some idiot gave an electrical box used for streetlights his very own Krylon Touch. The phrase, No War on Iraq leaped off of it and hit me directly in the face.  After I saw this, I began to realize that the weapon of choice for these people seems to be low cost canned black spray because they are
too pussy to come out into public and use their voices to express their political views, but they must think that spraying their very own foolish bullshit on a metal box is really going to get their cause noticed.
Lets look at this though.  Is anyone really pro war?  There is a difference between being hell bent on having war with anyone and everyone for no particular reason and having a war to justify a wrong or a threat to national or world peace.  No one likes having our fighting men and women killed in battle or hearing about the loss of civilian life and property.  No one likes having our troops half way around the world separated from family and friends.  If there are people like that, may you die slowly and painfully in a blazing house fire.  Nonetheless, our troops are fighting against injustice and the support of American citizens is what drives them and allows them to do their jobs.  The loss of American lives will not deter them or cause them to fail their mission.
Scenes of anti Americanism arent only limited to our nations capitol however.  They can be seen right here in my home state.  About a month ago, I visited the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  After visiting the campus I have decided that it is one of the most liberal and left wing colleges in the United States!  Unfortunately most campuses around the U.S. are filled with teenagers and young adults who think that everything in the world should be free and that everyone should be treated equally and have the same possessions.  Thats not an uncommon or new idea though.  The Russians believed the same thing close to a hundred years ago and it was called Communism.  So sadly, Republican/conservative college students (like myself) are a minority.
While walking around campus (which was very nice by the way) I came across a white spray-painted stencil outline of the United States on the sidewalk.  I didnt realize what it was at first but as I got closer, the image of our nation became clear and in the middle of that outline was the phrase Stolen Land!  What the hell!!!  I would have to say that if this land is stolen, then we stole it fair and square using powder muskets and foreign diseases.  No doubt some Indian (I dare not say Native American because I am not politically correct and also I am not European American, Im white.) drunk of fire water made a pretty little stencil in art class and decided to paint a side walk.  If it wasnt an Indian that sprayed it and it was some dumb ass white boy who owns a house, youre in possession of stolen property son!

Never ceasing to amaze myself and always delivering controversy,
Brad
Back
I had almost gotten away from the campus of UNC Chapel Hill without seeing another sign of a tree loving American when more words (yes they were spray painted as well) were found on the side of a green trash dumpster. END AMERICAN EXCESS, it said.  Well lets think about this.  Whoever wrote it believes that America is a land of fat asses with too much food, too much entertainment, and too much free time on our hands.  Apparently, it is also the land of too much spray paint!  It appears that this loser felt so adamantly about his cause that he decided to spray this slogan on the
side of a dumpster so hung over college kids throwing out last nights Aristocrat Vodka, Salem 100s, and Trojans could take the time and read and agree with his plight.  Give me a fucking break!  He wants to end American excess but still indulge in the fact that he can walk to Ace Hardware or Home Depot and buy any color of spray paint he wants and spray what ever slogan he wants on some stinking dumpster. Is not the fact that he even has spray paint American excess?  Ponder that one for a while hippy.
So lets recap.  Being left-wing and liberal is very bad.  Anti war protesters no longer wish to start a revolution like their bong hitting mothers and fathers did back in the 60s but rather paint things in anger. And canned spray paint is very plentiful.  This is not a tyrannical regime like some of my fellow Americans may be thinking.  You dont have to hide behind your spray cans and stupid slogans.  This is America!  You can say what you want and speak out against the government.  Thats what shaped this country and thats what makes it so great.  We do have freedom of speech and take it for granted or choose to shoot our mouths off during any situation we get into.  We do have the right to assemble and hold a Klan rally or just assemble and worship the God of our choosing.  I do have the right to put up a website expressing how I feel and it isnt censored.  So, I say let the little bastards use their spray paint.  Let them paint stupid slogans on random objects and in obscure places.  When the war is over and we are victorious, they will slip quietly back into the shadows once again and never be heard from because they were too chicken shit to actually be heard in the first place!
