I bought my 1994 Wrangler on May first of 2002.  It was a stock Plain Jain YJ.  After almost a year of owning a stock YJ, I learned that I wanted and needed more.  When my tires wore out thats when it all started. Picture of my stock jeep

When I went to the tire store I opted to buy some 31" tires (Capitol A/T - economy - nothing special, but better than what I had especially the need for new tires wasnt a planned expense).  But with the 31" tires on the stock wheels, I couldn't fully turn my wheels without the tires rubbing the springs, bummer.
About a month after my tires, I figured it was about time to change out that worn out U-Joint in my front axle.
I read about a fuel tank modification from
www.jedi.com (Jeep Evolution, Deveolpment, and Implementation) where I can squeeze 20 gallons into the YJ's standard issue 15 gallon tank.  Works great and actually you really don't need to lower the fuel tank like his directions say, at least I shouldn't have.  Because when I lowered the fuel tank, I made the mistake of unbolting the fuel tank straps which cause them to pop off and go where I couldn't access them.  Then after I finally got the straps back into place, I discovered that the studs were broken off.  So jerry rigged tank to where it was secure, and forgot about it on purpose.
My birthday was right around the corner, what a great time to tell my wife that I wanted some new wheels for that special day this year!  I showed her an inexpensive wheel out of a
Jeg's catolog and presto, a few days before my birthday the UPS man showed up with 5 Cragar Nomad I, 15x8 steel wheels with a 3.75 inch backspacing which cleared up my problem with my tires hitting the springs.  Thanks to my lovely wife.
But now with the wider stance from the new wheels, I came across a new problem.  Any time my body would flex the tires rubbed the flares, even on paved roads, so I needed some clearance.  And to go along with that, my inner axle seal started leaking.  So there are three things I need now, a new seal, clearance for my tires, and fuel tank straps.
I saved up a bit of money and took my Jeep to the local 4x4 shop and told them what I needed, I went ahead and replaced all three seals in my front axle, got my fuel tank straps fixed, and slapped on some extended length shackles.  He told me the shackles would give me about a 1 1/2 inch lift, but when I got it back, it looked a bit taller than that.  I was hoping to go 4 wheeling the next day, at least thats I planned my weekend, but on the way home I decided to slap in in 4 wheel drive just to make sure everything was working correctly, and NOPE, it wasnt.  Something in the front axle's locking mechanism wasnt reassembled correctly.  I drove back to the shop and was told to bring it back on Monday so they could fix it since it was 4th of July weekend.
