Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2

"One of Mario's greatest adventures is in your hands!"

Super Mario Advance 2 is a port of the SNES classic, Super Mario World. It also features Mario Bros., which is a remake of the original Mario Bros. from the Arcade and the NES, which also was in the first Super Mario Advance. In Super Mario World, Mario, Luigi, and Peach have traveled to Dinosaur Land. However, Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach again! Mario and Luigi set out to find her, meeting a new pal, Yoshi, along the way.

Visuals:
All the graphics from the SNES version of SMW are here and look almost as good. Some of the newly added things (such as new sprites) look good as well. One of the more major changes is the new intro: Mario, Luigi, and Peach are in a hot-air balloon, flying towards Dinosaur Island. M&L discover the Feather, and fly off over the land. When they return, Peach is gone. It's a nice addition to the game.

Sounds:
The tunes and sound effects sound a little different (most notably, the music), but still sound similar to the SNES version of SMW. Mario and Luigi now talk, and there are a few new sound effects.

Gameplay:
The gameplay from the SNES version of SMW is perfectly executed on the GBA version. The most major change to the gameplay is the ability to choose to play as Mario or Luigi. Mario plays like his SNES SMW self, while Luigi plays somewhat similar to his SMA self, meaning, he jumps higher but is a bit slower than Mario.

Replayability:
The main goal of SMW is to, of course, defeat Bowser. After that, you can try to unlock all 96 exits in the game, or you can see how far you can get in the Mario Bros. remake. Super Mario Advance 2 can link up to the first SMA for some multiplayer action is Mario Bros. as well.

Bottom Line:
IIts Super Mario World portable! If youre a fan of the original or have never played it, I recommend picking up Super Mario Advance 2 on the GBA.

Final Score: A
