Mario Kart: Super Circuit

"Get supercharged!"

Mario Kart: Super Circuit is an all-new Mario Kart game, and the first in the series to appear on a handheld platform. Super Circuit combines elements from the two previous Mario Kart games, Super Mario Kart (SNES) and Mario Kart 64 (N64), into one portable cartridge. Super Circuit features over twenty new tracks and lots of unlockables as well.

Visuals:
Super Circuit features psuedo-3D graphics that look great, especially for a game that was one of the GBAs first titles. Characters are well animated and levels are bright and colorful.

Sounds:
MK: SC features a nice soundtrack. The Super Mario Kart tracks all have remixed music and sound better. The voices, for the most part, are good. However, a few of the voices are questionable. Yoshi, for instance, actually talks a bit and he sounds really stupid.

Gameplay:
The gameplay from previous MK games is still here, and basically is the same. MK: SC features five cups (instead of the usual four), with four tracks each, for a total of twenty MK: SC tracks. Thats not all. MK: SC also features all twenty tracks from SMK, which must be unlocked, for a total of forty tracks! MK: SC features the usual GP and Time Trial mode, as well as the Vs. and Battle Modes when linked up with other GBAs, in addition to the Quick Run mode, where you can practice any track with the other seven computer drivers. All of the racers from MK 64 are in MK: SC.

Replayability:
As mentioned before, there are several tracks to unlock. After you unlock those, you can try to make records in the Time Trial mode or link-up with friends and play the multiplayer modes. MK: SC features single and multi-pak play.

Bottom Line:
If youre looking for a good racer for your GBA, pick up Mario Kart: Super Circuit. Its one of the best ones youll find on the system.

Final Score: A-
