Rush
Rush is one of the most influential progressive rock bands ever, with their followers stemming out even outside the prog genre. The band released their self-titled debut in 1974. John Rutsey was behind the drums at the time, and quit the band shortly afterward due to failing health. Neal Peart filled in the vacant spot, and became the groups primary lyricist. The subjects of his lyrics were mainly science-fiction based. The band released several quality albums, including, but not limited to, 2112 (1976), Hemispheres (1978), and Moving Pictures (1981). The band's musical low point was the overuse of synthesizers in the late 80's. Eventually, they were placed in the background rather than the forefront. In the late 90's, tragedy struck. Both Neal Peart's wife and daughter died within a year of each other. This caused the band to go into hiatus for several years, until they returned with 2002's Vapor Trails, with Rush in Rio and Feedback [EP} following soon after. Discography Albums
