| DEMONS: |
|
Throughout the world there have always been people who found nothing wrong with turning to material for any situation that arose. They flaunted their mastery of the power the orbs contained and wore them much as others would rare jewels as a mark of social status within communities. Owners of rare and mastered materias passed these heirlooms to children, who followed their example and in turn, left the orbs to their own offspring so that generations within various bloodlines spent their entire lifetimes exposed to the energies housed within the crystalline spheres. Few considered the long-term effects of continual use of materia. What would long-term exposure to one specific kind of materia do to a human being throughout his or her lifetime? But perhaps more importantly, what would be the effects of this kind of exposure upon generation after generation? The answer was the birth of demons. Demons are not summoned beasts and are not bound to an existence of laying dormant within a materia when not called to action. Even if little more is known of their true origins it is obvious that they are capable, and do, act upon their own will. But at the same time they serve, with utmost loyalty, their master and bloodline. Demons manifest both at the expressed command of their master and whenever they feel that their influence is needed. Even to the point of employing their powers without being called upon. While there is no known incident of a Demon striking against a human unless it has been in defense of their master, they frightening possibility was not overlooked and master bloodlines quickly learned to guard their secret. On playing or owning a demon. The number of Demons allowed in the game is going to be limited. The bloodlines possessing a demon servant are rare, perhaps 1 out of 100,000 families will have or develop the demon strain so obviously not every character in the game is going to come with his or her own demon. That said anyone wanting a demon is going to have to apply for it even if his or her character has already been approved. A history of the demon or how/when it awakened in the bloodline is not expected however a general description of the bloodline he/she/it is bound to is necessary. Im not asking for a detailed family tree but the family name, the region/culture they hail from, any pertinent information you wish to include (i.e. genetically inherited defects/traits like bi-colored eyes, quirks linked to the family such as a code of honor or vow of silence pertaining to their demon, or even something as quirky as only being able to summon the demon while in the midst of a full-blown panic attack etc.) and a full description of the demons usual appearance(s) as well as any powers/attacks is necessary. Further since the demon strain only awakens within bloodlines that have been exposed for generations to a particular kind of materia, he/she/it should be played into that fact. For example, a bloodline that specialized in fire materia would not have a demon that could only perform ice attacks, instead it would be much more reasonable for them to have a demon with offensive/defensive capabilities that are related to fire. But be reasonable. No demon should be any more powerful than a summon but at the same time they can be infinitely more flexible so be imaginative. In example, using a wind-demon disguised as a stray breeze to flip up the skirt of an attractive woman or snatch an enemys weapon from his/her hand rather than just hurling tornados at people for their attack. Be creative but clear all powers/attacks in the application with a mod. Own? or Rent? Keep this in mind, you do not have to play your own demon. If you would like to play a demon, but not necessarily have to command it, you can make a demon for another players character. This needs to be worked out in advance and coordinated with a moderator. Players who would like to own a demon but not play a demon and likewise, players who would like to play a demon but not play their own master should make their requests to a mod so we can help you get started. NPC demons. Demons can arise within an npc character that is carrying the plague but for whatever reason has been arrested somewhere between death and the development of esper powers. These poor souls are completely controlled by the demon that has arisen within them but obviously these tainted demons will be much weaker than a demon of a bloodline family and could be killed easily whereas the slaying of a bloodline demon would be impossible unless every member of its master-family was killed off. These demons will obviously be more prolific than bloodline demons and their numbers and the frequency of encountering one only increases with the spread of the plague. Please, if you have any questions or ideas and are interested in owning or playing a demon, read all of the information here carefully and make sure to contact a mod. |
