Background: Rufus was the only son of Arthur & Shea ShinRa, the eleventh male born to that name and the tenth to gain possession of the families heirloom materia and the beast that used them. Shunted off from Midgar to Junon to stay with his grandfather for his formative years, Rufus was raised away from the politics that had shaped his father and was given attention and care he might have gone without had he remained in Midgar. Though his father would have nothing to do with him and his mother was distant from him whenever she visited, Nicolas ShinRa knew the small boy held a potential to be a great asset to the company later and thus groomed him for the job he would later hold. Despite his young age, he took to the lessons like a fish to water. Learning to speak in complete sentences and read by the age of four. He followed his grandfather about the Junon ShinRa building on his inspection rounds and learned quite a bit about the building in the process. At age five, Nicolas gifted the boy with another constant companion of his that he had withheld from his own son due to his dissatisfaction with him. Dark Nation, the old man called her and gave the boy a small pouch on a necklace containing two brightly green materia within. Another old man was introduced to Rufus around this time, Tamsien, who at the time was the head of a group founded by Nicolas�s own father, Rufus Daniel ShinRa. The Turks worked for the ShinRa family�s best interests, dispatching their enemies and other small tasks. Tamsien, however answered only to Nicolas at the time and due to this causing Arthur�s ire to flare, was stationed at Junon until such a time as the elder ShinRa passed on and the loyalty changed to next in line. Tamsien taught Rufus his first lessons in gunmanship, teaching him to use a small handgun as well as knife work. The small six year old didn�t care much for the knives, but excelled with the small gun, moving up from the handgun to a small shotgun, which the young boy favored the most, choosing it for his main choice of weapon as he grew up. However, Rufus�s idyllic upbringing was changed when his grandfather passed away just shortly after his seventh birthday. Under orders from Arthur, Tamsien brought the boy and his guardian feline back to Midgar. After a cursory meeting, in which father and son were reacquainted, Tamsien took the boy under his care a job made harder with the increased duties that Arthur laid over the old man�s shoulders. Soon, Tamsien grew to old to continue his position as the leader of the Turks. A young man by the name of Tyler was chosen to take on the position and thus take on almost all of Tamsien�s duties excepting two. Those two being the care of the young ShinRa heir and the training of the few new recruits to the organization of the Turks which had fallen down in numbers, having at most now around four or five members at a time, instead of the greater ten or near twenty that they had originally been when founded by Rufus D. ShinRa. While growing up in Midgar, Rufus�s education in weapons was continued and soon Tamsien turned him over to one of his new young promising pupils, one Tseng Roen newly recruited into the ranks. The young Wutainese teen soon taught the small blonde everything he knew about hand-to-hand combat as well as the arts he brought from his homeland. Unfortunately due to neglect or order of President ShinRa, the young boy was given into the medical custody of Simon Hojo. Who took liberties with the boy�s care at times, sometimes using the young heir as a test subject, which angered both of the blonde�s guardian�s, but neither was able to do anything to put it to an end. Tamsien, by orders from above and Dark Nation by steel walls, due to the simple fact that she was never allowed inside the medical labs or offices in which Hojo spent his time. By the time Rufus turned fifteen, only the Turks and the SOLDIER General, Sephiroth posed any kind of a challenge to his combat skills, he also was an excellent gunman and often practiced shooting with either Tseng, or Reno. On his sixteenth birthday, Arthur finally seemed to take something of an interest in his son for the first time, officially making him the Vice President of ShinRa Electric Power Company. He was given a gift at this time from the nearly ancient Tamsien who was well past the age of one hundred and now merely watched over the group he once had lead. The gift was a green materia known as Seal, Tseng gifted him with the Dragon armlet, and the three materia that the young teen owned now finally had a place to rest beyond the small pouch around his neck. Reno going along with his best friend bought Rufus a ribbon accessory to protect him from anyone who would seek to come after him due to his rise into power. Unfortunately for Rufus, the elderly Turk died the next year, causing Rufus to have to deal with the trouble that had been previously deflected by the old man�s power and wrath until then. At the age of 18, Rufus was sent away from Midgar, first to Junon and then from Junon to an island off the coast of Mideel. Here he remained for three years, governing the protect their until Scarlet came with the news of his father�s death at Sephiroth�s hands. Returning to Midgar, he was faced with AVALANCHE and was engaged in a fight with a blonde dressed as a first class SOLDIER. Disconcerted by the blonde�s defeat of his feline guardian, Dark Nation, he allowed the man calling himself Cloud to escape and tended to matters of assuming the position he now held. During and After the METEOR incident, he ran ShinRa Inc. as its President. Unfortunately he was assumed dead when DIAMOND WEAPON fired on his office and destroyed it.
