Pale white slip on shoes, and occasionally a cross pendant hung about a wide white ribbon complete his outfit. Although he is at times to be found wearing glasses, his eyesight does not depend upon them, they like his choice of apparel are just an odd quirk of his personality. Background: Like so many survivors of Midgar's destruction, Ren did not walk away from the crisis unscathed. The young man found wandering dazed and in a state of shock through the rubble and settling debris by Sierra's initial rescue forces has apparently lost many of his former memories. Though pronounced physically sound after field doctors had tended his minor abrasions and bruises, Ren's amnesia prompted his rescuers to take the young man along with the injured and dying back to the field base that would later become Neo Midgar. It was hoped other survivors, kin who would claim the boy and help him through his recovery, would recognize Ren. The hope proved vain and the only blessing of the young man's condition was that he would not suffer the grief of remembering the family he had lost the night of the crisis. Taken under the protective wing of Sierra, as so many orphans were in those first horrible days following the disaster, Ren's intelligence quickly earned him a place within the Korsiva hierarchy. First as an assistant to the medical staff and psychologists tending survivors and later with the researchers attempting to document and understand exactly what had taken place within the ruined city. Wise beyond his years and voraciously curious, Ren was a welcomed member of many of the first expeditions, after the rescue attempts and retrieval of corpses had ended, to locate materia and excavate the ruins of ShinRa's research and development laboratories. Ren was one of the plague's early victims. Coming in contact, daily, with the tainted orbs brought about a swift and severe affliction that ravaged his young body and for a time, the efforts of Sierra and his healers to restore the boy's health seemed hopeless. But when the plague receded, Ren awakened. Spared the madness and crippling physical afflictions that would affect future victims, Ren was blessed, or cursed, with Esper gifts that made him invaluable to Sierra's later research and efforts at understanding and controlling the plague. Limit Skills: I: Shield: A simple shielding of solid ice builds up around Ren, or whomever he desires to protect, cold enough to freeze skin on contact on the outside while body temperature warm on the inner wall. II: Lotus: Any and all water around him is gathered to form the shape of the flower bearing the same name either within a group of enemies or above a target, when complete it freezes and shatters, the shards flying down and outward with the force of a fired bullet into Ren's enemies. III: Icy Wind: Removes any status effects that may be affecting either himself or his allies, while at the same time causing the enemy to grow chilled to the point of a low level Ice attack. IV: Frostbite: Exactly as the name implies, the threatening party attacking Ren or one he desires to protect will find either their fingers or other extremities freezing to the point of being frostbitten, the more they persist in attacking the worse the case of frostbite, up into possibly even causing the destruction of the affected area. | |
