Fish...

The Amazon River Basin is home to over 2,000 species of fish. The Amazon River has species of fish than the entire Atlantic Ocean. They range from the brilliant cardinal tetra to the aggressive piranha. Here is also the home of the world's largest fresh-water fish and the many exotic species kept in aquariums all over the world. The water of the Amazon Rainforest ranges from clear water to black water. Black water has little or no minerals in it and is stained like tea, almost as pure as distilled water. In our quests to aide the enviroment, many have forgotten that aquatic life is being affected as well. As a matter of fact, fish from this river have also suffered from the destruction on this planet. Many species depend on the rainforest for food. Hydroelectric dams and gold mines havebeen major threats to the river's ecology.Indians in the rainforest depend greatly on the rainforest for food and their economy since many Amazonian fish are greatly prized in aquariums. Deforestation also makes the soil erode into the river smothering the river's wildlife with sediment.Save the forest, since without it, there will be no fish.
