About Shadows of Mutation...
Shadows of Mutation is a fantasy anime role-playing game set in a magical, fantasy world called Caelestis. The world of Caelestis is an ancient world that has thrived for many, many years. But, the people of the world seeked ultimate power; power that would ensure eternal prosperity and life. A mystic foresaw a stone being created in the snowy mountains of a kingdom called Niveusti that would hold unbelievable power out of this world. The head of this kingdom sent an army to steal it, and bring it back to the castle so that the power would be for the king only. When the men of this army tried to steal this stone, the stone became evil and turned all of the kingdom into a mass of undead. Upon doing this, the stone also resurrected the undead from the underworld to join forces. The ancients of this world did not want this stone to be used for selfish motives; the stone was to maintain peace upon all the kingdoms of the world, and bring prosperity to anyone who was good. When the king of this kingdom wanted the stone for his selfish self, the stone turned evil. The stone also placed viruses in this undead; these viruses have the power to destroy anything and everything that comes in contact with the carrier. The stone became an evil, virus-giving power, which constantly produced infected undead; this stone as well as the virus, would be this world's downfall. Many lands were destroyed and turned into barren lands. The heads of the kingdoms tried to stop these infected forces, but it was no use. Until one powerful warrior named Alidus the Mighty, journeyed to this stone, and with a powerful blast from his sword called Custos, destroyed the stone, as well as himself. At that moment, the virus as well as the undead carrying it, died. But, the impact the plague and the infected forces had made has made it difficult for kingdoms to get back on their feet again.
Present Threat:
Many decades have past and the legend of Alidus the Mighty is still being told. The stone is called the Stone of Ipoten, and the time of Alidus and the plague is called the Era of Darkness, or EoD in the legends. The present year is EoRe 75, (the 75th year in the Era of Rebirth,) and a small number of lands are doing fairly well. But, a little over three-fourths of the world is still barren and dead. Alidus' sword, Custos, is now known as the Guardian Sword of Alidus, and is still intact in a place unknown; it is waiting for someone to come along, a person of pure heart and good nature, to pick it up and become its owner. This person is the only one able to carry the sword and use it correctly; all others trying to pick it up will find it too heavy to pick up. The world has been quiet, aside from the rebuilding of lands, but now, the little remnants of the virus from the Stone of Ipoten have mutated, and the undead have risen once again in the barren lands. The virus now has the ability to infect anything that comes in contact with the carrier, and turn them into undead with evil magic powers and weapons. The virus also has no power source, which makes it almost impossible for it to be destroyed. Magic users have been able to set up magical barriers around the remaining kingdoms and lands, protecting them from the new infected forces, but these barriers won't hold forever. There is also an evil sorcerer named Malus, who is planning on taking control of these infected forces and boosting their power to great levels. But, Malus cannot do this without getting infected himself, for he does not know how to protect himself against the undead; he only knows how to protect buildings. The heads of the remaining kingdoms have managed to keep this threat on low profile, but there have been rumours going around about people seeing weird monsters in the badlands. Now, a select few called the Rebirth Alliance, who have chosen to fight, must stop the evil sorcerer from taking control of the infected forces, while destroying the infected forces once and for all. These fighters wear armour which has a part that gives off a magical barrier protecting them from getting infected. This magic is like the magic legends say Alidus the Mighty used to protect him from undead, but more evolved. This magic merges with the human being, using their kind-hearted life source as a barrier along with a powerful magic unknown to the sorcerer. But, there is one flaw, if the fighter becomes evil, unconscious, or dies, the barrier shall be critically reduced in power, making it highly likely that the fighter will become infected if he or she comes in contact with infected forces. Now, these fighters must fight to keep what remains of their world, and destroy these forces once and for all...or maybe not for all...
About the role-play:
Shadows of Mutation is a MOPbeMFRPG (Multiplayer Online Play by e-Mail Fantasy Role Playing Game,) which means it is a writing RPG using email as its tool. A person in a group writes a starting message that starts off the story, and sends it to the rest of the group. The other group members than reply to this message with a message of their own, continuing the story. This continues until a short part of the story ends; this short part would be called a post. A post is a segment or chapter of the story. An appointed person would then take all the messages and arrange them in chronological order. Then, that person will put the messages together, making one chapter. This chapter must then be given a title and sent to the sitemaster, who will put this post on the site for all to read. It is important that this person will be appointed when the role-play starts, for he or she has to save all the messages in order to make the chapter.
