UNITED WE STAND

Here a Poem a Friend Wrote
A Time to Honor a Time
to Remember
My heart will
not fail
My hope will not vanish
My dreams will not be vanquished
I am an American
I stand tall for the Pledge of Allegiance,
I fill with pride to the words of the Star Spangled Banner
I place my hand over my heart when I see the flag
I am an American
Today, I will feel sorrow
I will grieve for the ones lost
I will think of those who try and save others
I am an American
I will also feel anger
At an unjust act of terrorism
I will wish for punishment for those responsible
I am an American
Most of all, I will overcome
America has beaten back the odds before
And it will do so again
I am an American
I will not shy away, I will not step back
I will stride forward with confidence and determination
I will hold pride in my country
I AM AN AMERICAN

You all remember the above picture
The below was drawn by a GI Waiting to Deploy
I hope that it offends no one by me using it here and if the owner wants it taken off my site I will do so.

Tragedy
We start our day, as always we do.
Nothing is different, the same for you and me.
Then something happens. Something is wrong.
A tragedy committed, against the strong.
We hear. We see. We are all shocked.
Our minds cannot fathom. Our lives are rocked.
Two towers in a city are burning right now.
Planes have hit them, hit them some how.
The lives effected. The destruction
immense.
The buildings are falling. The smoke is intense.
We hear of another, the Pentagon’s on fire.
This cannot be. Our situation is dire.
How can this happen? How can this be?
Who did not stop this? Who did not see?
Someone is out there. Someone is to be blamed.
Someone is responsible. They should be ashamed.
Anger fills our hearts. Someone must pay!
There is revenge needed, needed this day!
Grief quickly follows. Many break down and cry.
All they can do is ask: Why?
Why? Why? Why?
We are a country, proud and free.
We live in peace. We live in harmony.
Evil has found us, found us today.
It strikes at our hearts, in a devastating way.
The wound left in our nation, is painful and sore.
It leaves us with vengeance, vengeance and more.
Much will be done, the next few days.
As we come together, in many ways.
Support and caring, will pull us through.
As we heal the damage, and our hearts too.
The scar that remains, we will never forget.
It will bring us sorrow, sorrow and regret.
It will be our reminder, of this day.
Our badge of honor, in our own way.
We will remember that, wounded as we were.
We came together; of this you can be sure.
Evil would smile, at what they have done.
Only to find, the battle was not won.
For we as a nation, have made this our goal:
That acts such as this, will only strengthen our soul.

From my family
To all those who have lost loved ones.
May God Bless and keep you all.
