Date: 12/08/2001
Location: Valley Forge Nation Historical Park
Names: George H, Mike C, and JC
Time: Approx. 9:00 – 13:00
Temp: 48 Degrees F.
Equipment: Digital Video Camera, Hand Held Recorder, IR to Sound Detector, IR Motion Detector, EMF Detector, 35mm Camera.
Interview
We interviewed several people who are frequenters of the park. One of the interviews yielded a first person experience. On a clear wintery day in 1999 he saw 2 men and a woman dressed in period outfits by the Dewees’ House. The men were dressed as riflemen. There were no re-enactors or volunteers that day. The source of this story also told us of some second hand accounts from people that he knows:
A woman in tears dressed in period clothing running from Washington’s headquarters toward the train station. The person who saw this thought it was a volunteer, it wasn’t.
A man by the Varnum quarters saw six soldiers with full kits walk by him pointing and laughing. They were not volunteers nor were they re-enactors.
The redoubts also have their share of activity; every now and then there will be a sighting of soldiers.
Description
The park is beautifully maintained and is obviously etched with history. We started at the Varnum quarters and took several photos, the area is very quiet and my pictures showed nothing unusual. The Dewees’s house was next. My pictures showed nothing unusual, however, to the side of the house the EMF detector went from almost nothing to fluctuating between 3 and 3.5 milli-gauss. The next stop was Washington’s headquarters. I took several pictures and monitored EMF. I saw and detected nothing unusual here.
As we were going from location to location we would stop and take pictures and measurements. In the area in front of Washington’s headquarters I had a strange feeling. The feeling turned out to be nothing more than a feeling as neither pictures or readings showed anything unusual.
Synopsis
Although our investigation turned up very little in the category of evidence I would like to go here again. We heard enough from our interviews to justify at least another investigation.
