After a dear, devoted reader mentioned that my fanfic seemed to all generate in one universe and was even kind of like a CULT, Phantomness decided to make it quite clear what usually happens in her universe, as not to confound all the poor souls who wander in and get lost in fanon. Note that most of this stuff is Fanon not Canon, kk?

First of all, Red = Ash. They are the same person unless otherwise stated. Hence, I tend to mix their names.

REQUIRED READING: Never Know, Card Captor Ashura, Dragon’s Series, Lagrimas y Silencia del Dragon, Winter’s Child and Pokemon Special.

PLEASE GO READ THE POKEMON SPECIAL/ADVENTURES MANGA, AT LEAST THE FIRST SEVEN BOOKS. IT WILL HELP!

RECOMMENDED READING: Cuanto, Cuando and well, any other fic I’ve written?

On the Triple Guardianship

The prophecy itself is only used in two, maybe three fics, definitely CCA, but it is important to note that it is not so much the prophecy itself but the ramifications that make sense in my fic.

Basically, the three Realm Guardians are Lance, Ash/Red, and Charlotte. Charlotte is an OC.

Lance controls the powers of Ice, Darkness, and Dragon first and foremost. His secondary powers include Water.

Charlotte controls the powers of Fire and Light first and foremost. Her secondary powers include a good grasp of divination, so one could argue that Psychic or Ghost fits her as secondary.

Ash controls the powers of Flight, Shadow and Lightning first and foremost. It could be argued that as Red, Grass and even Normal or Ground or Rock could be added. Note that Water is not one of Red’s secondary powers, and neither is Fire.

Charlotte and Lance could both technically control the powers of Psychic and Poison. Nonetheless, Charlotte lives far away on Cosmos Island and often does not meddle in the affairs of Kanto and Johto.

Under this clause, Lance controls two of the Kanto Elite Four – Agatha and Lorelei, and three of the Johto Elite Four – Koga, Will, and Karen. He is also able to control Sabrina, Erika, and Morty, and to a lesser extent, Aya, Falkner, and Bugsy, though no explanation has ever been given for the latter two. And of course, one cannot forget his cousin – or sister – Clair. Note that though the lesser masters and guardians will not openly defy their particular Realm Guardian, they are not always blindly loyal.

Lance and Red control the powers of Grass, Ground, and Rock.

Red and Charlotte control the powers of Bug, Steel, Ghost, Fighting, and Normal.

The idea of Balancing comes from the idea that it was the legendary pokémon who created the Realm Guardians. To keep the balance between humans, pokémon and nature, is the duty of the three guardians. There will never be more than two guardians active at any one time, unless the situation is dire. And always, Charlotte is the eldest; Lance the second eldest, and Ash the youngest.

Sleep of Death is what guardians enter into when the world is at peace and they are no longer needed, or the world is at war and they need to be protected. A coffin-like bubble of energy, red, blue, or yellow forms around the guardian. While they sleep, they are completely unaware of the outside world.

The Triple Devastation Wand is a wand that harnesses the powers of Fire, Ice and Lightning. Charlotte holds Fire, Lance Ice, and Ash Lightning. Fire is used to identify demons, Ice to try to purify them, and Lightning to destroy them.

The Scales of Fate and Destiny is used to weigh hearts and also weigh guardians. For example, if two pokemon were feuding, the Guardians would use the Scales to determine who was in the right. The scales have three balancing pans on one crossbar. The Scales are also used to determine power levels of the respective guardians – whoever’s colored ball is higher and glowing brighter is stronger in power level. The Scales have one extra function – to sacrifice Fire and Ice to bind Thunder… to kill Charlotte and Lance to power Ash up or give their life in exchange for his.

Although outside of Card Captor Ashura, the Pokemon Cards are rarely used, they are still an important source of power for the guardians. The spirits of the pokemon in the cards live in the Dream Realm.

The Onyx Seal was used to seal the dark apprentice, named Bob, in the CCA series. This took place during the Card Captor Ashura Arc notably named, CCA: Dark Apprentice.

Cosmos Island is Charlotte’s home. It is not ‘real’, per se, because Charlotte herself created it and the legendary pokémon did not. The landmass is roughly the size of Kanto and Johto, and the gym system is based on the planets from Sailor Moon. Most of the pokémon that live here are found in Kanto, though many are the author’s creations. There are also a few pokémon from Johto, but very few.

The Solar System Badge is what one gains when one defeats all nine gyms in Cosmos (the badges are named after the nine planets) and the Champion.

Charlotte is the daughter (or lover) of Moltres, and Ash’s soul sister. Her weaknesses include the dark, and she is hydrophobic. Instead of normal blood, her veins run fire. Her first form is the Messenger, with the power of Wind, her second is Fire Guardian, and her third is Master of Revealing Light. The first form is pathetically weak and she’s insane in the last form, so she is usually just Fire Guardian.

Lance is Lugia’s son-slash-daughter, and has no problem switching genders on a whim. His skeleton is made out of silversteel, as are his wings, and he has dragon’s blood of fire and ice blood in his veins, in a delicate balance. Lance’s first form is Catelyn, a little blonde girl, who is the Ice Guardian, with powers of Ice. His second form is Dragon Master, with control over Dragon, and his final form is Crystal, the Master of Dark Illusions. Catelyn is also quite weak and Crystal quite insane, so he usually stays as Dragon Master.

Ash is perfectly human, though his true Mother is the legendary phoenix Change, or his Father is Honou. It rather depends, but it is usually one or the other. He is usually just Ash, though his abilities from other forms may bleed in. His first form, Destiny, is insane, with powers of Shadow and Lightning. Destiny resembles a half-bird, half-human form, with one pair of gold wings and one pair that range in color from white – innocence to black – despair and hatred. His second form is Hope, with sea-green eyes and silvery fish fins on his back, long ones. Hope’s powers lie in Healing, and he does not battle. His last form, the one truly close to being himself, is the Master of Hidden Shadows. It is unknown how Thunder Guardian fits in here. My best bet is that Destiny is also the Thunder Guardian.

None of these forms are perfectly set and the guardians often have several minor forms as well.

Charlotte’s forms are always female and Ash’s are usually male, with Ashline as an exception. Lance is the most flexible and can switch male to female with no problem usually. In some lives she’s a girl, in other’s he’s a boy, and sometimes it’s a life where s/he can switch back and fourth.

Charlotte draws her Card Magic from the Sun, Lance from the Moon, and Ash from the Stars.

Ash is the most powerful power-wise, but Charlotte is the most mature emotionally, and Lance wields his power with the most skill, so it seems as though he is more powerful than all the rest.

Charlotte’s Guardian attacks are Phoenix Gift, Phoenix Curse, and Heaven’s Fury. The first grants reincarnation seven times, though it can also be used to give her power to the other guardians. Phoenix Curse causes the person the curse was cast upon to feel as though they were burning in hell until they die, and if cast on a family, endures for seven generations. Heaven’s Fury is simply a light-type attack.

Lance’s Guardian attacks are Dragon Dance, Dragon’s Blood, and Restoration Rain. The first involves blades and dancing – he has a hundred and forty-four dragon blades crafted out of silversteel from his wings and there are four hundred variations to the killing dance. Dragon’s Blood has both a Curse of Dragon’s Blood Unwillingly Shed and Gift of Dragon’s Blood Willingly Shed. The first kills just about everything, and the second can be used to heal. Restoration Rain is a wide-range healing attack used to heal large numbers of pokémon, but it cannot raise the dead.

Ash’s Guardian attacks are Dark Thunder Apocalypse, to level everything in a five-mile radius, Desert Storm – a powerful attack that deals ground, electric and flying-type damage as it whips up a cyclone, and Frameshift – an attack that can stop time in small areas indefinitely.

Charlotte’s Guardian pokémon are Moltres, Entei and Honou. She has no secondary guardians.

Lance’s Guardian pokémon are Articuno, Suicune and Lugia. He has Rayquaza, Latios, and Latias as secondary guardians.

Ash’s Guardian pokémon are Zapdos, Raikou and Serebii. His secondary guardian is Honou.

Common villains I like to use are Serebii, Mew, and Deoxys. Others include Pryce, and sometimes Giovanni/Team Rocket or Team Magma. For a long time, they had to deal with Bob and Missingno.

When a Guardian is in a Team, it is either Team Rocket or Team Aqua. For some reason, I discriminate against Team Magma.

You will note that I do not often use the Houen region, or Orre, for my fics. I have no idea why. The legendaries there are too difficult to assign to a guardian so I pretty much let them run free, except that Lance has some friends in Latios, Latias and Rayquaza.

Of course, villains need a reason to be there. There are ‘tests’ guardians have to take, to gain anywhere from three to twenty-seven lives in peace. Not that peace happens very much… Notable tests include the Mew Amulet and Villains Never Win.

Lance’s Viridian Power allows him to read pokemon’s minds and heal their wounds. Often, I extend it so he can also communicate telepathically with his pokémon.

Any new skills/languages/powers I stick onto Guardians may be random. Also, the color of their hair and eyes will change all the time. Bear with me, kk?

Now why are Lance and Ash/Red a couple? Well, in Shelter in the Storm, Lance swore an oath that she would always be with him, loving him and supporting him. Therefore, Lance cannot help but be in love with him, life after life after life. Unfortunately, Ash has no such compunction. That often makes their relationship a bit skewed. And screwed!

And speaking of lives… Charlotte and Lance’s memories will carry over between lives, while Ash’s do not. It’s all Serebii’s fault. This often causes Ash to make the same mistake many times over. Charlotte will remember important things, like her duties as a guardian but little else, but Lance will remember everything. Sometimes this drives him crazy, and at other times, Lugia will manage to suppress his memories.

There is a type of Ice medicine/Ice drops/Silver pills Lance takes. They damp his emotions, and can cause amnesia in large enough doses.

Lance once had a Dragon Necklace that shifted into Bracelets with sharp-edged wings. They are made of silversteel and dig into his skin whenever he is going against Lugia’s orders, or when he needs to shed blood for his dragon attacks.

The Sacred Sword and Sacred Shield were both formed from the death of a guardian – Lance and Charlotte, respectively. They lasted a few lives and then faded away.

The King’s Crystal forces it’s wearer to tell the truth always, and was once melded with Lance.

The Wand of the Water Guardian was first introduced in CCA. The wand is made out of twisted bronze, but at the top there is a three-pointed blue crystal, that shines like pure water. It can create healing potions or work as a healing item. Once, Lance and Ash journeyed through a volcano to find it.

Charlotte, Lance and Red all have colored compact mirrors, used to communicate. Red for Charlotte, Blue for Lance, and Yellow for Ash.

Sabrina was Ash’s Moon Guardian in Card Captor Ashura. He also had a winged Pikachu named Pika-chan or the Eternal Winged Pikachu of Greatness.

Often, the Guardians are called Chosen. Ash is referred to as Chosen One, obviously, but for the others, just Chosen. For example, when Charlotte talks about Lance, she usually calls him Lugia’s Chosen, and he calls her Moltres’s Chosen.

Lance usually possesses the ability to change into a dragon. It’s a white dragon with silver eyes and silver claws and teeth. On occasion, the dragon is black in color instead of white. Whenever he changes, he can go full dragon form or he can only go half, often times at which he will grow wings or bladed claws out of his skin. He can also grow blades out of his forearms. Afterwards, the injuries will heal over as scales and then normal human flesh.

Charlotte’s weapons are the Flame Sword/Sword of Fire and the Flame Shield, both of which are made of fire. The Flame Sword has a bronze hilt, the rest is just a bunch of flames, and the shield is a round bronze one surrounded by flames.

Lance’s weapons, besides his Dragon Blades, are the Ice Blade and the Dragon Shield. The Ice Blade has a hilt of silver, and the rest is a piece of jagged ice with many sharp points. The shield was never described in detail, but it is made out of silver and blue scales, and round.

Ash’s weapons are the Thunder Blade and the Shield of Reflection/Mirror Shield. The Thunder Blade has a hilt of gold with a blade of black lightning. The Mirror Shield is a round shield with a golden rim and the rest is either silver or clear, as befits a mirror.

Among Ash’s possessions there are two important ones. Destiny’s Amulet is a rough black stone with a rude carving of a bird on it, strung on a golden chain. Hope’s Locket is a locket made out of clearish glass, with a picture of Lance and Ash inside. Often, he is unable to ‘transform’ into his Guardian forms without these, but not always.

The Flame Ruby could technically be the source of Charlotte’s powers, as for Lance, he has the Ocean Sapphire, and Red has the Earth Topaz.

Clair used to be paired with Drake, the former Orange Island Champion, but now, she is more often paired with Lorelei. Both of them are often Lance’s cousins.

Erika and Sabrina are often Ash/Red’s cousins.

Morty, Sabrina, Karen, and Will are often paired up together, Morty with Sabrina and Will with Karen. However sometimes Will has been with Sabrina and Morty with Karen. Perhaps someday they will be a foursome or split into a yaoi couple and a yuri couple.

I like Koga, Aya, and Janine, so they often show up in my fic. Koga is usually paired with Green, the boy from Pokemon Special. Other times he is paired with Aya.

Falkner and Bugsy somehow wound up working with/for Lance and Charlotte. I don’t know how it happened. They are a couple. Bugsy is a girl in my fics.

Blaine is often Ash’s grandfather or godfather. Giovanni is often Ash’s father, though sometimes he is Lance’s father or Ash’s uncle.

Blue is usually paired with Silver, or occasionally Green. I like Blue and Silver’s cute relationship as siblings too.

In a few fics, Agatha was Lance’s grandmother or surrogate mother.

In a large number of my fanfic, Misty played host to the demon pokemon Missingno. Thus, she was often an evil character, sometimes with no control over her actions.

Often, Ash calls Charlotte Aneki and Lance Aniki, for older sister and brother. Never mind that sometimes Lance is female…

END GUIDE

Completed 7/25/06

Because otherwise people will be pretty confused when entering my fanon. Hope this is helpful! I think I put everything you needed to know in this guide. If not, well, I don’t know, just email me with questions?

And yeah, most of the stuff is on Lance, isn’t it? He is my favorite character! And yeah, maybe I’ll upgrade the guide later when I write more new things.

Sayonara, Readers!
