Episode 5: Battle on the grass field!

“We have another treat for you folks!” Shouted the announcer. “Today, on the grass field, we have a match between Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town, the green trainer, and Jeanette Fisher from Maiden Town! (Sorry, don’t have the English Episode script, so I’m translating from Chinese, bear with me…)”

“So….pretty….” Brock said with little hearts for eyes.

Misty malleted him, muttering about inconsiderate boys who only cared about pretty faces…

            “The match begins now!”

“Pikachu, I choose you!” Red called, earning strange looks and gasps from the audience.

            “Is he crazy?”

“But electric-types are weak to grass!”

            “I hope he’s not insane…”

            Jeanette giggled. “I choose Scyther!”

Red smirked. * I knew it. * “Pika, Thunderbolt!”

Pika smirked with her trainer and fried Scyther with one well-aimed burst of electricity, sending it to the pokemon center ASAP.

            Beedrill wasn’t much luckier.

By now, Jeanette’s cheering section was looking slightly terrified, while Jeanette herself looked kind of nervous.

But she wasn’t going to give up so easily. “Bellsprout, go!”
The small pokemon materialized on the field.

Red looked annoyed. “Pika, Megavolt!” Pikachu nodded and used the equivalent of ten thunderbolts to fry the plant. It really had no chance… come on, if Lance and Aerodactyl couldn’t survive it…

“Ash wins the fourth round!” The announcer said even he was a bit shocked at Ash winning with only one pokemon.

            Red smiled and posed.

Gary nearly dropped his café latte in disbelief. “No way! How could Ash Ketchum, of all people, win the fourth round with just one pokemon!?”
“Well, Pikachu was his starter…” A cheerleader offered.

“Of course! I should have used Eevee against my challenger!” Gary stated.

            His section nodded in unison.

“You did great, Pika!” Red said, scratching Pikachu behind the ears. Pikachu smiled and chirped happily.

Misty cheered, but then she noticed that Ash’s mom and Professor Oak were sitting behind her. “Hi!” * Oh no! I thought they would just watch on T.V. but if they took all the trouble to get here, then… *

“Hello, Misty. Ash is doing very well, isn’t he?” Delia asked.

“Yes, Mrs. Ketchum.” Misty said. * Even I’m kind of surprised… *

“Pikachu seems to have gotten a lot stronger.” Oak commented.

“Well, it has been a while.” Brock said. “And yes, Pikachu is very powerful. But what was that attack it used?”

“What? You didn’t know either?” Oak asked as he pulled out a notebook.

            “No. Was I supposed to?”

“That means it must be a completely new attack! I’ll ask Ash about it later!” Oak said.

Red came down. “Hi mom! Hi Professor Oak!”

They waved. “Great job, Ash! Can I see pikachu for a minute?”

“Sure.” Red said, handing Pika over.

“My! Where did this scar come from?” Oak asked.

Red froze. * Shoot! I forgot that Pika has a scar on her right ear! *

“Um, training accident.” Red said. “Had to do with Bruno.” (Oh my gosh this actually fits in with the anime storyline, because Ash and co. went to train under Bruno right before Pokemon League!)
“Oh! I see. Be a bit more careful, Ash.”

“I will be.” Red promised. He petted Pika on the head.

            Pika purred.

After they returned to the house they were sharing, they had dinner and prepared to go for a walk.

“Hi!” Another person entering the elevator said. “I’m Richie! You must be Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town!”
“Hi!” Red said. They shook hands and then got into the elevator.

“Can I see your Pikachu? It’s so cute!”

“Um, Pika doesn’t like strangers…” Red said, a bit worried that Pika would shock him. But she didn’t.

Richie scratched Pika under the chin.

Just then, the electricity went out.

            Misty freaked out.

“Oh no! We’re going to fall down!”

“Don’t panic!” Red said. “Pika, use Flash!” Pika nodded and lighted up the elevator so they could see. Then, she hopped over to the elevator and unscrewed the panel.

“Great, Pika! Now use Thundershock!” A quick jolt of electric started the elevator again, and they made it to the ground floor without any problems.

But as soon as they got out, more problems arose.

“Could everyone who is competing in the league games please heed this announcement! Please give your poke balls to my assistant! A virulent disease is striking pokemon down and if you refuse, you will be disqualified!”

            “What?” Red asked in disbelief.

“Let’s go!” Richie said. “I don’t want to be disqualified, for one.”

            “Me neither!”

Jessie inwardly snickered as all of them placed their poke balls in. But then, she noticed Pika perched on Red’s head.

“I’m sorry, but we’ll have to take the pikachu too.” She said. And without further ado, she stuffed Pika in the bag and tied the cords.’

            “What?!”

            “Prepare for Trouble!”

            “And make it Double!”

“To protect the world- hey! What are you doing?”
From Red’s hand came a poke ball. “Eevee, I choose you!”

            Everyone paused to stare.

“B-but, you put all six poke balls in the bag.” Jessie stammered. “Oh well, who gives! Let’s run for it!”

            “Meowth, that’s right!”

“Wheezing, Smog!” James called. The whole area fogged up. Red swore as they disappeared from view, with their getaway truck. “I’m going after them!”
Richie ran after him. “Me too! They took all my pokemon!”

However, a few feet away, was a steep, grassy knoll.

“Fine then. Be that way!” Red said.

“Wait! Do you have a plan?” Richie asked. “You don’t have any equipment with you!”
“I guess I’ll just have to deal with it.” Red said as he jumped off the knoll, with Eevee in his arms.

“Wait!” Richie shouted, tackling him. “Wha-?”
They were on the back of an Aerodactyl, which was soaring in the air.

“Any more questions?” Red asked as he guided Aerodactyl to follow the truck. “We can’t lose them, Aeroy!”
Aerodactyl nodded and flew a bit faster.

            Meanwhile, in the truck…

“PIKACHU!” Pika shouted as she released all her anger in an explosive burst of electricity. Unfortunately, TR had taken this into account, and the bag was electric-proof, as well as being way too tough to chew through.

Pika sighed and closed her eyes to take a nap.

“There it is!” Richie said, putting down his binoculars.

“Come on, we have to stop it.” Red said. “Aeroy, start diving.”
            “Er, Jessie?” James asked.

            “What?”

“The twerps are standing in front of our truck.”

            “WHAT?!”

Jessie swerved off the road and into the river below. Shielded by bushes, the TR agents popped open a secret passageway and vanished from view.

Red and Richie searched until it got dark, but then decided that they had to stop.

“Ash, I brought food and some sleeping gear.” Richie said helpfully.

“Thank you.” Red said, taking the canned food. He sighed. * My skills have really gotten worse… *

They ate quietly, and then climbed into their respective sleeping bags. Don’t ask why Richie was carrying two.

            Night fell.

End Episode 5! So, what do you think? Come on, tell me… oh, and flames will be used to fry the people who do the voices for the CC cast…
