When they just know you as a friend
Although they know they mean more to you.
So at first they'll play along,
And when friendship is going strong,
He'll go off with another girl.
Although it's not the same, you try another boy,
You use him to forget the past.
But then he'll re-appear, and want to play again,
So you leave your boyfriend to back to the old
But then he just wont want to know,
He will leave you alone,
With your pain, sorrow, tears and memories,
And the painful reminder, when you see him again,
At the office, at a party or in the street.
He'll say "Hello" some times even smile...
But always straight through you,
Usually to the girl walking behind,
Every time your heart beats just a little faster,
Knowing just one thing as you pass on by...
He could never, will never ever be yours.
The way things have to be,
When your heart screams out
From pain you cannot see?
How do you describe
The way thing must turn out?
And how do you die inside
By a whispered shout?
As I watch you walk on past,
I try to find the words to make your hear.
But I can't, so then at last,

How do you accept
What's best for someone else
Whend all you want is them,

The dull ache in you felt
When they say I love you
