An old saying is that 'The pen is mightier than the sword' and there is a lot of truth in this. Words are wonderful things. Words can make you happy or sad, cheer you up when you are down, inspire you to think beyond your present situation and dream dreams of better things to come. There is nothing more cheering than a letter from an old friend, received just when you were believing you hadn't a friend left in the world. Reading a good book, tucked up snugly in a warm bed, is one of the most pleasurable experiences I know of. And the inspiration that comes from other people, brave enough to write down their own experiences of life, knows no bounds. When I was lost in the throes of alcoholism I found great help in reading the stories of others who had been there and had come out the other end. It gave me hope and the strength I needed to carry on. Over the next few pages I will share with you some of the words that have meant a lot to me. I hope you like it.
Today - Well lived - makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE - LIVE IT. Easy does it. Live and let Live. Let Go and Let God Listen. Keep it Simple. If it is not broken why fix it? It is the privilege of wisdom to listen. (O.W.Holmes) Little by little I can change my world - not by escaping to a new one with the same old me, but by making a new me out of the old one. When My thoughts are centered on learning to live, I will be less tempted to involve my mind with the thoughts of how others live. Nothing on earth consumes a man more completely than the passion of resentment. (Friedrich Nietzsche) INSPIRATION THAT I HAVE ENJOYED. A Collection of Inspirational prose to give you strength and hope.
