You Are the One

I
awake
in middle
night.  Drowsiness
and phantoms, the ghosts
who remind me of your
feel and scent, the fullness you
leave within, linger long in my
bed and body.  I come to waking
to find you gone.  I long for you to stay.

You
rise.  My
bed you leave,
the thief stealing
away, successful
seduction completed,
leaving scents and memories
deep within the folds of bodies
and an ache that calls forth loneliness
in the dark of night.  I want you to stay.

I know even now you will never stay
and I will only know the fullness
of you in these stolen moments
when time stands still for the hour
you allow me.  Against
judgments of others
I wait.  You are
the one I
want this
night.
