| Personality: Zahara is a very calm person, to the core. She doesn’t really stress about things but tends to keep a cool head and try to just figure things out instead of stressing about it. When it comes to other people, like the pard, she does have a tendency to worry about them and has to force herself to take a step back sometimes. She’s an observer and as such she picks up on some things that might pass others by. She has a naturally motherly nature and is very protective over the leopards. She’s a good-natured person, but when it comes to the pard she has no problem doing what is necessary to keep them disciplined and in check.
Family: Nathan Austin (father), Pauline Austin (mother)
History: Zahara was born in Seattle to a musician wereleopard father and a writer mother. Her father was the Nimir-Raj of the Seattle pard and Zahara grew up very conscious of shifter life. Still, her parents tried to protect her as much as possible from the shifter life, but despite their efforts, Zahara ended up infected by accident at age 11. It wasn’t a very good way for a child to grow up, but her father kept her away from the pard as much as he could until she was 16. Then, she started getting more involved in pard business. After her infection, Zahara was unable to attend public school since she couldn’t control her beast very well, so from age 11 she was home-schooled by her mother. Zahara was very close to both of her parents and early on took after her mother when it came to writing skills.
When she was 24, her father was killed in a challenge. The guy who took over as Nimir-Raj was shifty and not very stable. After enduring his leadership for six months, Zahara and her mother moved to New York where Zahara joined the local pard and over the years climbed the ranks to alpha.
Zahara kept writing and got a two-book deal with a publishing company. Over the past 10 years, she’s released four books and is working on her fifth.
When Zahara was 31, her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Over the next two years her mother got rapidly worse and Zahara finally gave in and found her a place in a good nursing home. After this, Zahara felt like a change of scenery and moved to Boston where she immediately established herself as an alpha in the pard.
In the Boston pard, she got to know and hit it off with a male leopard, Chase. Their beasts seemed to immediately reach out to each other, making it feel right between them. The two became good friends (with occasional benefits) and when Chase became Nimir-Raj, Zahara was pleased. A few months before her 38th birthday, Chase approached her with the suggestion of making her his Nimir-Ra. Unable to deny the chemistry between their beasts, and seeing the logic in his suggestion in that it would strengthen the pard, Zahara accepted the offer and she was officially made Nimir-Ra
Strengths: she’s very calm and collected and rarely loses her head, she’s confident in herself and who she is, she’s good at looking at things objectively and from all perspectives.
Weaknesses: she worries a bit too much about the pard sometimes.
