| Personality: Nikki is a comfort creature. She likes the good things in life –
good food, a warm bed, and more often than not, someone to share both with.
She’s not the type to settle, but she enjoys having ‘playmates’ on a fairly
regular basis. She gets lonely in her house by herself, so she tries to have
someone over every night if possible. She loves to cook, and loves even more
to cook for others. She also has abandonment issues, and can go a little
schizo if she feels like it’s happening again. Aside from that, she’s pretty
friendly to anyone, as long as you don’t piss her off.
Family: James Andrews (father, alive), LaTonya Andrews (mother,
missing/presumed dead), Michael Andrews (older brother, alive), Marcus Andrews
(older brother, deceased).
History: Nikki was born in Harlem, New York to a construction worker father and
a homemaker mother. She learned the meaning of the word poverty early on, as
her father barely made enough money to support the family. Her oldest brother
Michael tried to help out, getting a job as soon as he was old enough, but
Marcus, only a year older than her, turned to gang life to make things easier.
He was gunned down when Nikki was 15. Michael moved to Seattle when she was 16
when he landed a job with Microsoft.
Not long after, while Nikki was at work at the corner convenience store, she
received a call from the police. Her mother was missing. Leaving work early,
she went home to find her father sitting alone in the dark. He then told Nikki
that he was a werejaguar, and had been all her life. He’d kept the secret from
everyone, even her mother, until the night before. He’d finally told his wife,
and she’d left him, he said. She hadn’t called or shown up anywhere since
then. Nikki was devastated, and things only got worse. The next morning
police stormed their house, arresting her father as a suspect in her mother’s
disappearance. His father denied it, fighting the police, and started shifting
in front of her eyes. Terrified, she tried to stop him, but a stray swipe cut
her chin and sent her sprawling. That did manage to calm her father down, who
immediately let out a stream of apologies as the police manhandled him to the
awaiting squad car. Nikki could do nothing but sit in shock as he was taken
away.
Child services soon came and took Nikki. A jury unanimously found her father
guilty, even though there was little to no evidence, and was sentenced to
death. Nikki found out at the next full moon that the accidental swipe her
father had given her had infected her with lycanthropy. When she found out,
she ran away from the foster home she’d been placed in. Alone, she roamed the
streets of New York for years, doing whatever was needed to stay alive. On
more than one occasion she was grateful for being a shifter, because wounds
that were fatal for humans were mere annoyances for her, and diseases couldn’t touch her.
That was until the shifter plague hit. Terrified as other shifters she knew
started dying, she scrounged up what money she could and headed south. It only
got her as far as Boston though, and lucky for her the plague never did get
her. Seeing this as a sign, she tried getting her life together. Now she
works as a stripper in a high-class club, and goes to night school twice a week
to get a degree as a lawyer, with a focus on shifter rights.
Strengths: Hell of a fighter, Nikki isn’t afraid to fight dirty. She’s not overly argumentative, but when she gets into it, she rarely loses.
Weaknesses: Doesn’t like being alone for any decent space of time, and can come unhinged if she is.
